A picture has appeared on a Chinese defense blog that appears to be a U.S. AH-64 Apache helicopter gunship being transported by truck through China. This has sparked a wave of controversy across the military community. Theories range from espionage to it being an acquisition made from remnants or possibly even a movie prop. Either way, this story continues to pick up steam and we will keep you updated. Are any of you guys familiar enough with the '64 to determine if this thing is the real thing or a knock-off?
Form follows function and the Chinese do a lot of reverse engineering. I'm wondering if they've picked up enough bits and pieces of real aircraft laying around crash sites and information stolen from the Pentagon and contractors to be able to bang together either a mockup or a test platform.
