The promotions from E-2 to E-5 came automatically while he was a prisoner, automatic because he couldn't participate in any exams or training required for promotion. This is supposed to apply to P.O.W.s but the Pentagram applied it to him even without the classification. Now that he's been freed the automatic promotions should stop.
But what the hell am I thinking ... since when do rules apply to the Obama Administration? I expect to hear that the Army Chief of Staff will be asked to step down now that he's suggested there would be an investigation into Bergdahl's capture.
