The unthinkable has happened. The healthcare corporation I work for has sold the Home Medical Equipment and Respiratory Services company to Aerocare, a national company based in Orlando.
I was not offered a position with the new company like nearly everyone else was so now I have 6 weeks with the help of the corporation HR folks to find another position somewhere in the corporation. I start interviewing this coming week. While I will probably end up in the main warehouse processing shipments to the various hospitals and doctor's practices in the system I'm trying to land a position as a technician or doing customer service in a practice or at Advanced Imaging in one of the hospitals.
Neither I nor the other purchasing agent / inventory analyst were offered positions in the new company though nearly everyone else was. Our outfit is being mixed in with a small (4 or 5 employee) company Aerocare already owned in Chesapeake. Most of the purchasing and ordering is done through the Orlando office I guess.
I haven't had to interview for a job in years. Wish me luck.

Interviewing practices and techniques have changed over the past decade or so.
Do some online searching for the most effective methodologies and practice them (just like a shipboard drill).
No substitute for thinking on your feet.
Best wishes.

Thanks bro. Had one interview already, was offered the position but I decided that I really wouldn't fit in or be comfortable in a front desk job at an Advanced Imaging center (x-ray, CT scan type of office.)
I caught a break today though, a position much like the one I just left opened today at a hospital only about half the commute from my home. I should be interviewing for it Monday or Tuesday. The pay isn't quite as good but if I can't earn an advancement quickly then it's time to retire. I've been angling for a position at this hospital since it opened 4 years ago.
God is good.

No, not yet. Had the interview last Monday but have not heard back. I tried to contact the HR recruiter on Thursday but haven't heard back from him either.

Actually 101, I was just logging on to let you know that I got it!
My new position isn't with Homecare or at one of the hospitals, effective this Monday I'll be working at the main Sentara warehouse in Chesapeake trying to untie the Gordian Knot, straightening out problems and errors that creep into the order management system. I'll be chasing down mistakes in ordering, routing of materials and in general making sure that hospitals all over Virginia and North Carolina's Outer Banks get what they need when they need it and following up when the inevitable happens and the wrong stuff gets shipped or requisitions vanish out of the system.
This is a problem I've had to deal with from the other end of the pipeline for Homecare for about 10 years so I have a head start on understanding the problems Materials Management has to deal with.
It beats the hell out of pushing pallets and loading trucks or stocking storerooms in a hospital, easier on the old body and the pay is good, better than the other positions I interviewed for (same pay I made working for Homecare) and makes good use (I think) of my knowledge and skills.
Thanks for your support.

Will do. Is it just the two of us using this board now? Looks like it. I'm traveling a lot and just don't have much time for it. Don't know why I'm keeping it open. Thanks for hanging in.

I keep hoping to see Warrior and some of the other old timers post. Yeah, me too. Don't see it happening, though.

Now don't give up on us lurkers - I do drop by once in awhile to see what is going on. Don't have much to say, though, so I usually just pass quietly through. I think message boards are a thing of the past, sorry to say. Tweeting insults seems to be the rage these days.
What happened to Warrior?

Warrior, if you see this just raise your head a bit and yell out "HI!" Worried for you bro. I don't "tweet," I do my insult trading on Facebook, usually with my UberLiberal sister. She has a Masters degree in Social Work and loves to rub our faces in it. To her Trump's crudeness and "nastyness" trumps Hillary's provable federal crimes. She says she doesn't support Hillary, but then her eyes are brown so you know she's full of it. It's good to see you posting bro, even just to say Hi. Be well.
