Yeah, 30 days. That is just torture. Wait a minute, I spent 13 weeks in boot camp. That's 91 days. Boy, that sucks!!! Haha yea 13 weeks is pretty bad. But our boot camp is shorter because we have ROTC all year long for four years. I have ROTC four days a week so if you add up all the time I spend there, it's pretty damn long. It wasn't really all that bad but the worst part was marching to chow. The chow hall was a mile away and I couldn't stand having to march there and back three times a day. It was so boring I was going out of my mind.... The only thing that made the marching interesting were the constant take-offs of the B-1s. Man those planes are sweet

If you were Airborne, you'd have run to the chow hall.
Welcome back.

It might be good you didn't join the Army or the Marines. lol! I missed the info you might have shared earlier, do you go into active duty now, or what? I'm still considering switching to the Army but I'm not sure. After seeing how awesome the AF is I might just stay there. As for me personally, I stay in college for the next two years before I go active duty. I'm now what's called a "Cadet Officer" which means that the cadets who haven't gone to camp yet have to salute me and call me Sir. My job for next year is Training Officer, which means that I get to train the new freshmen how to be leaders and officers. I'm really excited about it because it's the job I have wanted for two years now. Then in two years when I graduate I go to Air and Space Basic - it's a school that every new 2nd LT in the Air Force goes to. Then I go to my tech school where I learn the skills of whatever specific job that I get. I'd like to get Security Forces (AF cops) or Special Forces so I would go to their tech schools and learn the specifics of each job. The tech schools for those jobs are 6 months long and 2 years long, respectively. At a minimum I won't be on active duty for another 2 years. At the maximum I won't be on active duty for 4 years. Regardless I should expect to be in Iraq or Afghanistan within a few years.

It's always fun to run in your BDUs with all of your equipment I really enjoyed the running though. We did a 6.5 mile POW/MIA warrior run where every mile we'd stop and hear part of a POW's story. Honestly that was the most inspirational run that I've done in my life. This guy's story was incredible and it just really motivated me to forget about all the pain in my legs and keep going. The entire run was done in silence as respect to all POWs/MIAs and we had to leave a hole in our flight as a symbol of one of our flightmates becoming a POW or MIA. It's was really inspirational and I almost started crying when I thought about one of my flightmates being tortured as the guy in the story was. They also told us stories of other POWs from Vietnam who spent 7 years in the Hanoi Hilton. My stupid 30 das felt like nothing compared to their 7 years of torture. I have new found respect for all POWs and even more hatred for Jane Fonda.

Welcome back. If you ever get a chance to hear one of the last flying Sgts left listen up. They have outstanding stories. You might want to read a book called "They also flew" a very good book, and also Lincon on leadership.
