Thanks to all.
As far as me heading to the GUlf to help with rescue efforts, I dunno. They're taking volunteers, and I put my name in, but as far as people who have some kind of experience with this kind of thing, there's only about me and five others at the unit. Most of the people here are IT geeks who have been riding a desk for the duration of their careers. I performed search and rescue and law enforcement before getting into the comms side og the CG (big mistake), so I've pulled dead bloated bodies from the water plenty of times. The problem is that the six or so people qualified to go and help are the most qualified people here at the unit. SO sending us would short change command.
So, for now I'm stuck here in CA. God, I can't wait to get the fuck out of this state. No offense 101, but I just can't take it anymore.

Though he is a USN AC and combat AC he has attended MA school and served as a MA for six months during his duty in Puerto Rico. I told him that he should see how his command was going to handle volunteers. If they have to spend leave or can you guys get this as a collateral duty?

It's a pretty majot operation. There has to be full inoculations and all that. It's like getting sent into the Congo.
