Tittus - I have searched the Qur'an and the Hadith and cannot find any such promise.
One source claims that: "Hadith 2,562 in the collection known as the Sunan al-Tirmidhi says, "The least [reward] for the people of Heaven is 80,000 servants and 72 wives, over which stands a dome of pearls, aquamarine and ruby." However, I cannot find any such book. I may be mistaken, but I believe the reference to "72 virgins" dates back to the times of the Assassins - which is an offshoot of the Ismaili Shi'ite sect of Islam, dating back to 1th and 12th century Syria and Iran. ... more research is required, though

Does it occur to anyone else that a government that endorses and supports a "Committee for the Commemoration of Martyrs of the Global Islamic Campaign" is already over-the-edge fucking insane? It's time we recognize this for the religious war that it is. If you don't clearly identify your enemy, you haven't a prayer of winning. They seem to be having no difficulty identifying theirs. 100% correct 101. Especial: It's time we recognize this for the religious war that it is. I've said that from day one. W denying that was his first big mistake and allowed the left a speaking platform.

You know, it makes me wonder why so many females are still flocking to the religions (Islam and Mormonism) that preach that women are objects of second class status. Well I can't let this go. I've heard others complain about the status of women in the LDS church, but from my experience in my familly I've always seen my Mom, aunts, and grandmother treated with the same respect as anyone would expect. To compare it to Islam is a gross misjudgment in my opinion. My sister and a very close friend are Mormons. Judy is an RN and spilled her guts about the way her family treat the women. Her mother-in-law is a poster-child for the happy Mormon mom, that is until she gets alone with Jude. One thought is that people who do not know any different thrive in that environment. Your point is correct, but when comparied to those women in your circle, there is a clash of cultures looming large. The younger women and the liberated liberal women will not tolerate being told what to and how to do something. My friend Gary moved back to SLC in 1998, both Gary and Karen are MDs. Karen too spoke one way to us and another when inside the church. Both Karen and Judy spoke of a fear of letting the "elders" know how they truly felt. I find this no different from my Catholic family. Many nonCatholics speak "with knowledge" of something they know nothing about. Look at History Moron's total acceptance in the DaVince Code and Brown's condemation of the Catholic Church. What is truth and what is conjecture? The truth lies somewhere in the middle. "In religion and politics people's beliefs and convictions are in almost every case gotten at second-hand, and without examination." Mark Twain

Mark Twain Perhaps it was just the church I attended when I grew up, but the elders were always open to everyone for discussion. I guess it's inevidible that bad cases and situations will occur. I've never been a religous person and the only times I make regular trips to church are when I'm back in Nevada visiting my folks, I still feel the need to defend the church though if I perceive a misconception. I do hope that your Sister and friends church improves though, it really brings the good out in a lot of people.

May be we should help 200 Iranians find what they were looking for. I am sure that we can find folks who like target shooting.

May be we should help 200 Iranians find what they were looking for. I am sure that we can find folks who like target shooting. I enjoy it. Apparently so does my young niece who just graduated from Army boot camp (National Guard) with the highest score on the rifle range in her unit. Her Grandpa would be proud of her, the rest of us certainly are. Either she's the new Annie Oakley or everyone else in her unit is crosseyed.
