Pretty amazing. These two men rushed in and prevented this "martyr" from completing his attack. THE ARTICLE: Afghan suicide bomber thwarted in Kabul KABUL, Afghanistan, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Two civilian employees of the U.S. military base in Kabul stopped a would-be Afghan suicide bomber from driving his truck into the base, the military said. The U.S. military said an unidentified security guard and interpreter, both Afghans, reacted quickly and yanked the driver from the bomb-laden truck before he could pull a cable to detonate the explosives, military spokesman Col. Tom Collins said. "Anyone's inclination would have been to run away but these guys are genuine heroes," Collins said. "I think it's a pretty amazing and heroic event." The area was evacuated, and the truck exploded during a disposal team's attempts to disarm it, but no injuries were reported, CNN said. Collins said discussions would be held on how to honor the two Afghans who foiled the attack. www.dailyindia.com/show/104372.php/Afghan-suicide-bomber-thwarted-in-Kabul

I'd be concerned that by honoring these men openly I'd be signing their death warrants with the local "militants." There has to be a way though.

I heard this happened at the Camp we were formerly post at. That Rambo pulled the guy from the truck. There's no need to protect his identity as he's a well know figure there controlling traffic at the gate and keeping a eye on who comes and goes. He lost his wife and one of his kids to a Taliban launched rocket when the civil war was being waged for the city. The best thing we could do is bring him and the rest of his kids to the states.

Since they both work on the base I wonder how much use protecting their ID would be. Maybe a ceremony on the base for their actions.
