Okay now that I'm here officially I'll introduce myself properly. I am PoPs. I retired from the Army after 21.5 yrs in 1988. I deployed to Vietnam with A Co 1/77th Armor out of Ft Carson, Colo in 1968. I spent the first 15 yrs of service as a tanker and was picked up on a mandatory hearing test as being legally deaf in one ear. The Army in it's infinite wisdom reclassified me to a 55B, Ammunition. I was involved in the management part and specifically the handling of it. My last major assignment was to the Missile and munitions Branch, 6th Support Center in Korea. There I managed approx 26% of all the munitions in the US inventory. Tours of duty include Vietnam, Germany and Korea. I spent almost 12 years in Germany. I've spent more time overseas than stateside durning my career. I retired as an SFC, E-7. The MOS change prevented my advancement to E-8. I made E-7 in my 12th year of service. My last year I made the E-8 list and was number 6 on the list. At the same time I came down on levee for Germany. I made the decision to retire because in order to complete the tour in Germany I would of had to re-inlist for 3 more years. As we know now that would of place the retirement date to 1991 and the Gulf War. They froze retirements during that time. The end result would of been 6 more years in the Army for promotion to E-8 for an additional $100 per month in retirement pay.....I made the right decision..... Thanks all for the welcome. Hope to be able to contribute

That would make you, Remey, Nixon (Peck) and 101 the same age.
Welcome abord.
I was cross-assigned chem/bio OEW safety officer while serving with USACHPPM. May function was to do the tox work for any chemical ordnance found in the US. Surprising thing, there are old Stokes Mortor and numerous German, Soviet, and Chinese stuff scattered throughout the old arsenals. The old practice was to take it out back bury it and forget about it. The trouble is that most of those properties have since been sold and ... well no telling who will find it.
