You don't "HAVE" cats. Cats have YOU. They are not pets. DOGS are pets. CATS are OCCUPANTS. Ain't that the truth, warrior! They demand attention, and if you don't give it to them they get revenge by finding something in the house to destroy. I have one here who does nothing by hiss at me. She doesn't want to be touched at all. Such a dramatically different disposition from the others. So at this point I just ignore her. She just died last year. Not quite the hissing all the time but definitely attitude problem. When I took her to the Philippines it all changed. She was actually happy. She later lived back in the States, Mexico and Peru. She died at 17 years. That cat loved to go new places. She did well with new people. Definitely Beta cat (I'm Alpha cat ). She became Guard Cat - sleeping on a pillow next to my head, the first one welcoming me home, and on point when company arrived. Oh - and as her placemat said - Cats Rule; Dogs drool. ;D Okay - I love dogs. But until I get more free time, it's cats for me.

Your all nuts, dogs rule My sister has a dog/cat household. Dogs - one bordercollie/lab mix, other an American bull dog. Cat rules. I grew up with dogs and miss that. But it would be just plain wrong to own a dog at this point in my life. Give that attention level to a cat and they are pretty amazing. They are more independent - which is good when you have to leave them alone. But they can get fairly involved in your life. Not as much as a dog to be sure. But one on one, cats can be more than enough companionship.

Your all nuts, dogs rule I've always enjoyed dogs more than cats. But cats can be fun as well. One of mine really enjoys playing. As soon as he sees me walking towards him, he just falls over and starts rolling around.

"Missy," our current lady of the house does that when Mrs and I get home from work or whereever and when I come downstairs in the morning. "Flop" and roll around "I'm SOOO glad to see you!" And then "Meowrrr!" - "GET ME MY BREAKFAST!" "Missy" is a black and white "tuxedo" American Shorthair.

My parents used to have cats around when I was a kid (no more than two though). I'll say that I always did enjoy them as they were good company and at night they always snuck in and slept right on my feet. Since I've been without them I have to sleep with my socks on or else it's always to cold to sleep

Hmmmmmmmm.......From Sailor:Our current lady of the house does that when I get home from work or wherever and when I come downstairs in the morning. "Flop" and roll around "I'm SOOO glad to see you!". "GET ME MY BREAKFAST!"Sounds very much like behavioral descriptions of the human female. Let’s see….what other behavior do cat’s and women share? Oh wait – I got a few: 1) No matter how well you know them you are never quite sure what they are thinking. 2) They whine when they are not happy. 3) They both try to take up more than their fair share of the bed. 4) They expect you to cater to their every whim. 5) Despite the fact that half the time they annoy the hell out of you, you still miss them when they aren't around. 6) Just when you think you understand them, they do something else to confound you. 7) You can't reason with them and they rarely listen to you. 8) No matter how cute and soft they appear they can be viscous when provoked. 9) When you want to play, they wanna be left alone. 10) They leave their hair everywhere. ROFL – I’m in for it now.

"When you want to play, they wanna be left alone."
And vice-versa.
