Hello, My name is John Davis and I'm here because all my post were getting deleted off THC. I asked 101 to turn me onto another site and, here I am. I think this was the same site I'd used before but since I've been gone for awhile, I'm not sure.
They say the memory is the first thing to go, right?
I look forward to getting to know some of you and getting reaquainted with the others.....jd

Hey there, JD. I saw your farewell address at THC and thought you'd make your way back here again. Good to have you here. THC is such a shit hole, but it's like watching a train wreck in slow motion. You don't want to see what is about to happen, yet you can't look away.
The days of serious debate over there passed years ago, but I still drop in to stir the pot and take pot shots at the potheads. It may not be a microcosm of the nation, but it is a good place to sound out the extremist views and get a handle on what they really think. Know your enemy, as it were.
The poofing seems to come and go, but it is decidedly one-sided. Socialist/liberal claptrap trumps all else. The report/advise feature is abused by the left, and the mods are too lazy and/or biased to use discression. You basically have to stay on the moral high groud, and when you get your digs in it has to be subtle or cleverly disguised as humor so that it goes right over their pointed little heads. Not to worry though, the dispassionate observers will recognize it, even if the clueless object of your scorn remains oblivious.

Glad you found your way here, JD.
Things are slow here in the summer but will pick up with the fall elections.
We have a few of the more reasonable folks from the left side of the aisle here so I expect things to heat up as the election approaches.
In any case, we'll be here. Pass the word.

Thanks Dadof3,
I knew I was wasting my time trying to debate with some of those morons but, it was worth a try. I first got onto THC in 2000 and it was a great place full of great people. Many of those people I see are now in here and I'm glad. I had been here before but didn't spend much time here since that was a busy time for me. I'm looking forward to getting my feet wet here. Thanks and we'll be seeing you....jd

Hello Steven13, My farewell addresswasn't nearly as colorful as it should have been but then I figured, "what the hell". I took a chance and was proven wrong for thinking it would be the old THC.
I will drop in from time to time to stir the pot and appreciate the welcome....jd

I have been considering returning to the foray at THC, but just don't have the time.
I also do the election judge thing here in the KC area. It occurred to me that those who voted in the last few elections are those who are politically aligned. The extremes, 2nd sigma on a standard distribution curve, are the ones who frequent the THC blog. Those people may agree with each other on certain aspects, but they appear to be afraid to compromise their political faith.
I am moderate Republican and am greatly concerned that the extremes of both parties have taken over. With men such as Liberman on the ousts, one must question if those of us in the middle will have much of a voice.
The hardest thing to argue is an ideal. Everything from our political debates on THC to the secular war in Iraq is being waged by the extremes of their faith in an "ism." "You can't fight a war against an '-ism.' It's a continuing struggle," Rimington, the head of MI5 from 1992 to 1996

It does not matter on which side you fall Falcon. At least you have fun here.
