Well, then it sounds like the school for you, Matt! Yeah, everything seems to fit nicely. Any ideas on ways to cut down that tuition? Yeah, don't go there. I know a few people who got significant tuition decreases because their parents work for the college. Other than that or scholarships (I believe they give a number of scholarships at St.John's), you really can't escape the high tuitions. Personally, I've never taken school too seriously. As you can tell from my bookcase, I prefer to read and learn on my own, not have some former hippies tell me what to think. But that's me.

Haha, looks like you're stuck with the entire tuition, matt. No flower power allowed, as far as I'm concerned! Though I should watch myself, Queens college is loaded with liberal hippies.

It all checks out. I'll have to visit all three and do a lot of research, but I think St. John's is a real possibility.

Yeah, almost all of my friends at St. John's are in Army ROTC. And that's the military branch of ROTC at St. John's -- Army. I remember meeting the head of the ROTC branch at the college. He was a Captain and we spoke for a few minutes. He was in intelligence when he was active in the Army. That was a few years ago tho, so he may no longer be there. The program is pretty demanding at that college. I know a couple people who just said the hell with it, and decided to leave ROTC and pay the tuition. If you're in ROTC tho, you practically go to the college for free.

Army ROTC at St. John's sounds perfect. To have the head of my ROTC from intelligence is great. How demanding? Physically? Academically?

Hey Matt, I'm not just saying this because I am in the USAF and I love the AF but we definitely have the best Intel program. Army is probably second but the AF is light-years above everyone else in terms of Intel. It is one of our major functions and our Intel Officers are the best in the world. It's also (as of right now) one of the hardest jobs to get in the AF. Two of the best cadets in ROTC got Intel slots this past year but that's because they are amazing cadets. Intel is a huge field in the AF though so a lot of people go towards it - but it is still very competitive because many people apply. I highly suggest AFROTC. Not just for Intel but because when you get on active duty our standards of living are so much better. While the Army and Marines are sleeping on cots in the desert, we're back in air-conditioned tents playing Halo and watching movies on flat-screen TVs

Academically? Demanding both physically and academically. I mean they're always training. And the military science classes are not really difficult. Usually a breeze. It's just hard for some people to focus on some of their other classes when they have to deal with ROTC. Don't forget, you can take the classes as a freshman and sophomore without being obligated to serve. And once you do graduate, you can either serve active or part-time in like the NG or the Reserves. So definitely look into it. You can call them. They're the Red Storm Battalion. They'll send you info.

ROTC is great. But AFROTC is over-rated. I suggest Army ROTC. Definately more fun. I'll try to find some pictures of our Urban Operations training.
