This makes sense for YOU though. If you're going to write a Master's thesis, why not pick a subject that is so esoteric and boring that nobody gives enough of a fuck about it to know anything about it. Who can argue with you if nobody knows enough to care?

Then, when you make a premise and draw a conclusion, nobody can possibly argue with you because you know so much more about it (which is absolutely nothing) than they do that you win by forfeit when they fall asleep! It's an effective way of weeding out the competition and opposition I guess.

You are the automatic and default authority-figure when nobody else gives the slightest fuck about the subject to study it.

Speaking of authority figures... I think that's why you joined the USAF. When you found out that you could go in as an officer, day-one, and outrank over half the people in the military, you couldn't resist.

If you'd have had to start off as an Airman Basic, you wouldn't have done it.

You want to be an "authority figure" so fucking bad that you will stretch to any ridiculous point - like becoming the resident atheist expert in Sun religions - to do it.

At the same time you dive into an ocean of absolutely meaningless BULLSHIT (that will NOT affect anyone's life) you claim to want to shape the young minds of the future.

Rather than just BE A LEADER in your own right, you wander down a winding path of TOTAL BULLSHIT in an effort to find something that nobody gives enough of a shit to argue with you about it. Then, you can be the "expert."

When you come up with a bunch of facts that prove some mindless thesis you can walk around with a puffy chest and a big lat-blowout and claim that you are an "Expert" at something.

It'll be like when you got your butter bars. Every enlisted person - even if they're as old as your father - has to salute you!

Then, you can really feel good about yourself. It's instantaneous "STATURE."

You clearly have issues with a sense of insignificance and insecurity.

Everything you do is an overt effort to BE SOMEBODY.

He'd rather just "act like" the smartest person in the room without having TO BE the smartest person in the room.

After listen to him spout off on all the crap he learned in college, I am left asking myself why I'd want to send MY KIDS there.
