Well, given the current state of political affairs, I think the prudent patriot should evaluate his armaments.
I have done so and find I'm feeling a little exposed without a centerfire semi-auto.
I went to a gun show last weekend and I was amazed at how the damned things were literally flying off the tables.
One dealer had 2 mini-14s that I was considering. I walked away to see what else was at the show and came back half an hour later and they were gone.
Since I have a latent but well-deserved fondness for the "black rifle" and since I'm going to have to spend a bloody fortune anyway, I've pretty well decided on a good old AR.
Now, since I live in the Demokratik VolksRepublik of Kalifornia, I'm limited to weapons with "off list" lower receivers and have to pin the (10 rd. only) mag to the reciever.
There's another show in Sacramento this weekend. If I don't find one there, I'll buy the componenents and build my own.
If you're even considering one (or an AK), I'd suggest you grab one soon before that idiot Holder decides that Mexico's weapons problems are our problems and institutes another ban.

Got my AK ;D To you, i would suggest leaving the PRK to get the good shit. Just go down to Tijuana there are probably more than a couple of AR's laying around free for the taking. The fun kind too, not just semi. Of course you'll want to keep your head down.
Maybe Bushmaster will start taking civilian SCAR orders sometime this year. they've only been promising them since '07.

I'm not much of a rifle or carbine man, but I'm considering a 12 gauge short barrel pump gun, one with the extended magazine tube. At the ranges I contemplate a 12 gauge or .45 is probably a better choice than an AR or AK.

aye, but black guns are just fun. as for the shotgun, I'd recommend a Mossberg 590. 8+1 with a 20in barrel. If you're looking for something shorter a lot of the 500's have 18.5 inchers but you lose two in mag capacity. the 590 also has a bayonet lug. ;D but you cant get a tac-light forearm w/o replacing the barrel since the lug is welded to it and interferes with the light.

Got a Bushmaster carbine a couple of months ago. Absolutely love it. Good thing about Arkansas we don't have the nonsensical laws you have to put up with in California.

Along with my pre-ban Colt AR-SP1, and Mossberg 500 I have a Interdynamic KG-9 Open bolt Pistol. www.gunsamerica.com/976832381/Guns-For-Sale/Gun-Auctions/Pistols/Interarms-Pistols/Interdynamic_KG_9_Open_bolt_Pistol_original_tec_.htm"This is the semi auto version of the Swedish Machine Pistol. Designed by Interdynamic AB of Stockholm, the KG-9 was marketed and made in america as a blowback operated Open bolt pistol. It was so close to the original, that it was found to be "Readily convertable to full auto" because it was an open bolt, just like the subgun. Only 2500 were made before they were forced to cease production. All made before Jan. 17 1982 are considered "grandfathered" and are legal to own". Back in the early 80's I bought TWO of these guns, at that time they were really cheap, a couple hundred bucks each if I remember correctly. One of them I worked on a little bit , and played with it for a couple of years before I decided I better get rid of it. However I still have the other one..... unfired and in the box.

Mossberg is a good name. I'll check it out, thanks.

Well, the Sacto show was a mixed bag. They had ARs and components allright but at 150-200% of list (and they were selling). I picked up a couple of mags and some 5.56 FMJ. I did score a lower receiver with an A2 stock on a Gunbroker auction. Now I'm tyring to connect with the seller to arange a trip to a local FFL holder to complete the transfer (and begin the 10 day waiting period). Now to find an upper...

And here's my upper... 5.56 NATO, 1/9 twist, M4 feedramps, 16" Chrome bore and chamber. I'm picking it up tomorrow. My lower is released from CA 10-day limbo on Friday. My Mil-spec M4 stock should be here by then also Can't wait to burn a few rounds. Bet I still know how. ;D

Speaking of adding... When I make it home this weekend, I am looking at another shotgun. If I can find one in stock somewhere at home, I am looking at a Mossberg 500 JIC (just in case) model. I'd put a pic on here if I could figure out how. So since I can't, here's a link. www.mossberg.com/images/Mossberg_Guns/930/New/51340.jpg

I have 1898 Karl Gustav, 6.5 by 55. Only five round magazine, however one round can do lot of damage.

Yea, 101, brother has essentially the same model I am looking at getting. But considering this is going to be primarily for Mrs Twofoot, I think we are going to go with a slightly different model. Mossberg also has one that has a collapsable stock like what you would find on an AR.

Get the Knoxx version of the AR stock. It's their "Spec-ops" model I may go to this model on my 870 once I get my AR built. www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0012785224733a.shtmlTwo words... recoil reduction. I've shot twelve-bores all my life and even I appreciate it when shooting heavy loads.
