Defense officials are expected to announce that military retirees and their dependents that live more than 40 miles from a military treatment facility or BRAC (base closure) site will lose access to TRICARE Prime as early as next April. This move could force as many as 171,000 retirees to shift to TRICARE Standard, which would mean an increase in out-of-pocket costs--especially those with special needs dependents or other chronic health issues. The first round of Prime service changes is "tentatively" planned to go into effect in the West region on April 1. The North and South regions will see the plan implemented by October 1, 2013.

The new contract impacts active duty military and converts them from Tricare Prime, to Tricare Standard. As of April 1, Prime beneficiaries — retirees, Active Guard and Reserve troops, and family members in many states will have to switch to Tricare Standard, a traditional fee-for-service health plan.

It also impacts military members stationed 40 miles or further from an active duty base area. Many will have reductions in coverage, and/or increases in costs. In 2008 and 2012, Obama said he would never accept this, but soon it will be a reality.

The White House is not doing anything to stop it. They regard it as a cost savings measure to help pay for Obamacare.

What can anyone expects from the liar. His next plan may be screw all of us living near the military installation. May be down the line he may replace the TRI-care with Obamacare. Then we really get the shaft.
