"I don't mean to shoot anybody," said Cooper, a self-described tomboy who has also tried archery and knife-throwing and has owned guns since her teens. "But whatever's necessary to literally stop them -- he was not going to come into my home." Her husband, Bob Cooper, chuckled when asked if his wife had learned her aggression from him and his military service. Cooper worked gathering intelligence in Italy and France in the build-up to D-Day and spent years going to the shooting range with his wife after the war, he said. "I'm not surprised at all, not one bit," he said. "I know her capabilities and what she can do if she has to." Grandma done well. You would expect libs calling grandma racists. So far it did not happen. Robber should feel bless that this was not his last day on this earth.

"Deputies have told her that, based on his height and the bullet hole, the shot that she fired through a narrow gap in the sliding door passed within inches of his left cheek." But no word on if he needed a change of trousers after that close call with a hand cannon (.357). Sounds like he got the message though, he apologized. Could have been much worse 101, she might have froze like so many do. I keep thinking back to that little old lady here in VA Beach several years back. She had a madman as a neighbor and he snapped one day, kicked in her front door after screaming he was going to kill her. She retreated to her bedroom and called 9-1-1 and her friends Mr Smith and Mr Wesson. The madman kicked in her bedroom door and she did ... not ... freeze either. Center mass, empty gun, DRT. She went into hysterics afterward IIRC, God Bless her, but you have to be alive and well to do that. The cops arrived about 5 minutes after she dialed 9-1-1. The Commonwealth's Attorney Office called it Justified. DD, this was only a few blocks from that restaurant where we met, in Aragona Village. I was seeing a pediatric patient around the corner from her home at the time. EDIT: Another memory, from THC when I posted about this incident ... Lepi or some other leftist loon had suggested that she shouldn't have had a gun or some such idiocy.

I tend to find it a bit better by mt trashmore then near the beach though. Seems the closer you get the weirder people get. -DD

Yeah DD.
I trust you heard about the trouble they had down on Atlantic at the beach about a month ago? Out of towners many of them from Petersburg and Richmond areas, though not all.
All of them looking for entertainment and excitement and not finding enough decided to make their own after the show ended.
I think the VBPD leadership got their collective asses chewed for being caught unprepared. Normally the oceanfront area is crawling with police afoot, on bikes and sometimes in cars though in the heavy traffic from Baltic Ave to Atlantic the cruisers are at a serious disadvantage during the peak season.

I heard a little bit about it, but I generally avoid the places with a bunch of cops. Stick to the country, honky tonk type places or dive bars and I've found you'll get hassled a lot less. That and me and the Mrs always designate who's going to be the driver that nite. -DD
