I could see that.

But there have been plenty of people that have invented weapons that they thought would end warfare, or wipe out civilization, or be thought "too terrible to use". (It started with the crossbow, which was thought of as "too terrible to use"...except against non-Christians.)

The weapons become "obsolete".

War does not.

And There were wars before there were politicians.

Almost undoubtedly, the first tool man invented was a club to hit someone over the head with.

History doesn't repeat itself; mankind does.
