I spoke with an aunt who lives up near Vallejo, about 6 miles south of the quake epicenter. She has some structural damage to the house (sounds like foundation issues to me) plus damage to possessions inside. Neither she nor daughter are physically hurt though the daughter is "seriously shaken up" by the trauma of being blasted awake by this. Hell, I would be too.

The thing about earthquakes is that there is no warning, and there is no place to hide.
Any kind of weather. Any time of day. One minute everything is normal, the next, everything is moving.
It's the price you pay for having some of the most magnificent scenery on the planet ( and that scenery was created by earthquakes.)
