I doubt Liaoning will ever be a first line ship but will remain valuable to the PLAN for development and training purposes. I understand that they've laid down their first domestically designed carrier which, apparently, may have 1 or 2 catapults and may come in at about similar in size to the new HMS Queen Elizabeth carrier (USS Coral Sea size) the Royal Navy is building. I admit it's been a while since I looked, guess I should research it some more.
