I just saw American Sniper this afternoon.
This is an incredibly powerful film honoring the career of Chris Kyle, the deadliest sniper in US history.
Powerful performances and Eastwood's masterful direction enfold you into a no-holds-barred portrait of the hell of combat in Iraq.
Besides being a first-rate war story, it presents the effects of PTSD with a brutal honesty.
I';m reminded of the comment made to me by a WWII Screaming Eagle at a reunion a few years back.
He said to me, very directly, "I'm glad we had our war to fight and not that one in Vietnam.
Old Trooper, if you don't mind, I'll just pass that thought along to the vets of OEF/OIF.)
If you haven't seen American Sniper yet, I highly recommend it.
101 Out.

Thanks 101.
Clint Eastwood has become the most reliable actor or producer of movies for me, with "Million Dollar Baby", Grand Torino", and especially "Unforgiven" being some of my all time favorites. I confess I have not seen "Flags of our Fathers" or "Letters from Iwo Jima"; My wife of 35 years is Okinawan, so It might be a while.
I'll have to check out "American Sniper".

I think you'll find it worth the price of admission.
"Flags" and "Letters" were both well done also.
I have a connection to Ira Hayes in that, according to my mother, he came to Glendale AZ on Saturdays and always stopped by the estate office there and chatted with folks. She told me he would pick me up and play with me. Of course I have no recollection of it but my mother wasn't one to fabricate a story.
