Ha, can you imagine the yardbirds crawling around that boat? -DD Yah, I can. Fortunately the yardbirds there work on Old Ironsides regularly so they know what they are dealing with, and her crew knows what to watch out for, especially souvenir hunters (lightfingered variety.) I expect much of the wood that comes out of her will be turned into officially sanctioned souvenirs for crew members and officials, other pieces for sale in the gift shop to benefit MWR or some worthy charitible organization. I once had the opportunity to walk away with a bit of HMS Victory, an old piece of a joint, a chunk of her hull just laying on the ground next to her graving dock and no one around, it was after working hours for their yard birds and only the fire and security watch around inside the ship. No, I didn't grab it. My old shipmate Murphy tends to stand right next to me and will totally fuck me over when I can least afford it. You can imagine how. I imagine there will be many opportunities for similar temptations aboard Constitution.
