With the first debate in Cleveland just a few weeks away, the GOP debate is supposed to be limited only to the top ten candidates, judged by their placement in the polls. With that said, who are you hoping makes the cut and why? Heres my list.
1. Marco Rubio - For now this Senator has my support for the nomination. I may not agree completely with his stance on immigration, but I believe his youth and ability to garner a larger portion of the youth vote gives the GOP an edge for the election.
2. Donald Trump - Its been reported the GOP establishment is not too happy with the attention Trump has gotten over his immigration comments and their potential effect it will have on other GOP candidates. I think the GOP is missing the mark here. Trump is becoming a pull for TV events. His participation in this debate will draw viewers who will be exposed to the other Republican candiates positions. These viewers will hear their stance on issues, rather then the news reports on their stance. His inclusion is a bonus for all.
3. Jeb Bush. I'm amazed how well he is doing in the polls. I agree with a lot of his positions, but given how much the Dems used the mantra "another Bush term" in the last two elections, the drawbacks are obvious. Still, his placement in the polls validates his participation.
4. Bobby Jindal. I was impressed on his interview this morning on Fox News Sunday Morning. He answered tough questions and came across confident, something I had not seen in his previous appearances.
5. Scott Walker. He just recently made it official. The Gov of Wisconsin took on the unions and came out on top despite numerous threats. I've seen a number of his interviews and hes down great in each one. I would love to see what he has to say in the debates.
6. Ben Carson. Zero political experience, but he has also given some interesting views on the GOP future. His showing is not great in the polls, but I'm hopeful he will make the cut.
7. Carly Fiorina. She tried for Senator in California and unsurprisingly lost in a very blue state. Still, she has a lot of experience with business so I'm interested to hear her views on the economy.
8. Ted Cruz. A tea party favorite. At a fundraising dinner Cruz was questioned by a reporter who asked him "do you have hostility towards the gay community?" to which Cruz responded "Do you have hostility towards Christians?" The reporter later ran the article under the headline "Cruz refuses to deny hostility toward Gay Community." Another example of the idiot media. I'd like to see this man on the stage.
9. Rick Santorum. He did decently well in 2012. I'd be interested to see how he does this time around.
10. Mike Huckabee. Liked his show and he's a better shot then Lindsey Graham.
That's my ten. Whats yours?
