Well, I think I did, anyway. I posted it in the old Computer Junkyard site back in 2003, and I don't think I plagiarized it.
Anyway, this is just an example of how the political left keeps telling us about how paranoid we are and that the things we predict will never happen - until they happen.
"I watched with interest this week as the Supreme Court struck down the Sodomy laws in Texas, or, more accurately, I watched the dialogue (or rants, as you prefer) with interest.
As Canada is poised to legalize gay marriage, and the Episcopal church ordains it's first openly gay bishop, the next step in the USA will probably be gay marriage as well.
There is a fair amount of weeping and gnashing of teeth in some churches this morning over these developments, I am sure. Many proponents of gay marriage assert that Jesus never said anything about homosexuality. He did, really, but not so you'd be able to convince the opposition.
However, he had plenty to say about promiscuity, and He noted that these "fornicators" would not inherit the kingdom or Heaven.
One has to wonder how our esteemed bishop squares this with his own homosexuality.
While it's true that Jesus' message was forgiveness He also warned many people on their way out the door: "Go and sin no more". Of course, He knew that they would never be able to pull that off, but He wanted them to give it a shot, anyway. And giving it a shot would probably mean something like even if you do fall into sin by engaging in sex outside of marriage you might at least admit it to yourself.
But the Episcopal church is a weird place. They have Bishops who are atheists, bishops who are child molesters, so why not round it out with a homosexual?
As it is, though, the Episcopal church is just catching up with society. Many years ago we knew that premarital/extramarital sex was a bad thing - you could end up with unwanted children. But we fixed that with abortion on demand. Never mind what it does to your psyche (read: soul) or what it does to your relationships, and last but not least, what it does to the child you didn't want.
Then of course there is the divorce rate in this country. a good half of all marriages end in divorce, and now they even have internet divorce. It's gotten to the point where it's nobody's fault anymore, and getting divorced is no big deal.
Right.
Anybody who has ever been through a divorce knows that's bullsh!t.
The point is, whatever "sins" we may have comitted in the past are no big deal anymore. We have an antidote for all of them: abortion, divorce - it only follows that the sin of homosexuality would eventually be remedied by legalizing gay marriage, and why not?
Let them share in the joys of marriage - and divorce. It will be funny to read about the first "gay" divorce, and trying to figure out who pays the alimony, or who gets the kids they adopted.
Meanwhile, the practicing of the taboos we think are outdated and outmoded continue to cause the same kind of side effects they always have - broken homes, broken hearts, and broken lives, even as we insist that it is our right to persist in them, and anyone who says otherwise is a "hater".
These are exciting times - gas is a buck fifty a gallon and the only sin left is smoking cigarettes.
Who knows, maybe some day the Supreme Court will decide that even smoking is a matter of privacy."
