us.cnn.com/2015/08/04/politics/new-navy-sub-uss-john-warner/index.htmlA Pleasure To Post This: NORFOLK, Virginia (CNN)—It's 7,800 tons, 337 feet and $2 billion worth of steel and stealth, with war-fighting controls that look like a big arcade video game. That new-boat smell may have worn off a bit during sea trials, but the man in charge was pumped with pride as the U.S. Navy's newest submarine joined the fleet in a commissioning ceremony at Norfolk Naval Station on Saturday. "The shiniest and coolest thing I've ever seen in my military career," Cmdr. Daniel Caldwell, a 22-year Navy veteran and the first captain of the USS John Warner, told CNN. "It's going to make whatever I do next anti-climactic."

Wow! I bet this sub can sink the whole damned jihadi navy all by itself!
Seriously, I'm glad the nuclear sub program is still intact.
I wish we'd pay more attention to the Infantry and tactical support.

The only real issue I have with the Warner is that the Navy is naming more and more warships after politicians who're still breathing starting with the carrier Carl Vinson.
Against nearly any other major power we could end up in combat against, these ships will be facing large numbers of submarines of varying quality ... some of them pieces of shiite, but others very very good. And frankly the best platform to use to hunt submarines is another, built for the task submarine like the Virginia class.
To the crew of the Warner I wish safe voyages, but if the time comes I pray you shoot straight and come home safely.

About the naming of warships after politicians: I've never agreed with you more.
