CNN)—Donald Trump won Super Tuesday. All other analysis feels like a distraction at this stage. He is ahead. He is the dominant candidate. Yet, despite this, the GOP continues to throw everything it's got at the front-runner. And continues to tear itself apart. It's become a kind of madness. The Virginia primary result was a good illustration of the mood of the Republican Party. Here was a chance for Marco Rubio really to break through. He was doing well among late deciders. But as the evening wore on and the votes came in, it became obvious he wasn't going to do it. www.cnn.com/2016/03/02/opinions/super-tuesday-conservatives-stanley/index.html

Both wife and I voted for someone other than Trump. My gut tells me not to trust Used Car Salesmen and other flim-flam men. I didn't vote for Rubio either, not sure who the Mrs voted for.

Five thoughts about Trump:
1. His behavior is churlish as well as decidedly un-presidential and renders him unfit to lead the party of Lincoln and Reagan
2. He is the GOP rank and file's natural response to 7 years of Obama's "fundamental transformation" and the ineffectiveness of Republicans in Congress to stand athwart it.
3. Like Obama, he's an authoritarian, charismatic demagogue who promises nebulous change and nirvana to a cult-like following of true believers.
4. He's a fucking birther and a 9/11 truther.
5. He flat out scares the hell out of me.
Just my $.02

How the people of this country can go for a flim-flam man like Trump is beyond me.
Clinton vs. Trump?
God help us.

His behavior often strikes me as more childish than anything else, and I agree about his being the response by the rank and file. And yeah, he scares the hell out of me too. What scares me even more is the cult of personality that's grown up around him.

God help us. And if Hillary gets indicted or if FBI recommends indictment but Lynch declines we might see the Dems have to go to the smoke filled backrooms at the convention to decide who gets to run. It may well be Biden or someone else in good standing with the party establishment, but not Bernie. Part of me hopes the Repubs have to go the same route, Trump scares me badly but I think he is enough of a loose cannon that he'll go 3rd Party and take enough support with him to hand the White House back to the Democrats.
