N.C. State scientist develops metal foam that could make body armor lighter, stronger
Afsaneh Rabiei, an engineer at North Carolina State University, has developed a new metal foam that in tests shattered armor-piercing bullets fired at close range. He is working with the military on the possibilities for this bullet-busting shield that is much lighter than current body armor.
