They should just scrap that outdated dinosaur. It was supposed to be a reuseable system, but it has become a disposable one that can't even complete a mission by bringing people back alive. You'd never get me aboard that thing.

They should just scrap that outdated dinosaur. It was supposed to be a reuseable system, but it has become a disposable one that can't even complete a mission by bringing people back alive. You'd never get me aboard that thing. If NASA was smart they'd set up a contest similar in concept to the "X-Prize" that Burt Rutan's outfit won. The object would be to produce a safe workable reusable system capable of delivering 5 person crews to the ISS economically. The system must be suitable to go into serial production. Make the prize attractive - $10,000,000,000. Anyone care to take any bets AGAINST some engineer of the caliber of Rutan pulling this off? Now, if I may be allowed a rant about the COLUMBIA flight. Just what the hell was the idea of flying COLUMBIA on a SPACELAB science mission when there is ALREADY a perfectly good laboratory module installed in the ISS. That's why the gawddamned station was built. If that shuttle had docked at the station it would have been a relatively simple matter to inspect the foam impact point and see that fucking hole.
