DURBIN COMPARES U.S. INTERROGATIONS TO POL POT AND NAZIS! Senator Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), speaking on the Senate floor, described our interrogation practices at Gitmo (keeping the 20th hijacker cold or hot, or playing of loud rap music) as akin to something that "happened by [sic] the Nazis, Soviets in their Gulags, or some madman regime like Pol Pot." Not only is this absurd and hideously inaccurate, but Durbin's comments makes our military's job more difficult, and encourages anti-Americanism around the world. Thanks, Dick. Yea I heard about this story yesterday - what the fuck are the Democrats thinking? Why do they keep pandering to the extreme left?
Do Democrats really think that most Americans care about the treatment of terrorists in Gitmo? As far as I'm concerned, they should rot in prison forever without trial.

The Dims used to play the race card. But since Bush has appointed more minorities than any other president in our history, that little trump card has fallen by the wayside. Now, it's the Nazi card. Anytime our wonderful Dims cannot think of something worthwhile to say, they play the Nazi card. First Rangel, now this idiot. What does he think he is achieving? Hell, half the American population, due to the dumbing down of our schools, cannot even tell you what the Nazis did. And how many of them do you think even know who Pol Pot was? I also heard that Durbin added to the report he was supposed to be quoting. A senior FBI agent said the report said nothing like Durbin quoted. The desparate moves of a desparate party who hates Christianity, the military and anything that has to do with American sovereignty.

This asshole and some other pukes in congress, Dem and Gop, are now calling for a timetable to begin withdrawing troops next October. They wouldn't be trying to be out in front of something just before the next congressional elections, would they? Say it ain't so! C'mon, they wouldn't make public statements or take legislative action that would encourage the enemy, for their own political gain, would they? Excuse me while I...

Iowahawk adds his usual twist to this story. If you have not read him before it's worth the time. From the Desk of Senator DickAn ongoing series featuring the correspondence of Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL), America's most dynamic metaphoristDurbin posted some lame backtracking DURBIN STATEMENT ON PREVIOUS COMMENTS REGARDING GUANTANAMO BAY
Friday, June 17, 2005
“More than 1700 American soldiers have been killed in Iraq and our country’s standing in the world community has been badly damaged by the prison abuses at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo. My statement in the Senate was critical of the policies of this Administration which add to the risk our soldiers face.”
“I will continue to speak out when I disagree with this Administration.”
“I have learned from my statement that historical parallels can be misused and misunderstood. I sincerely regret if what I said caused anyone to misunderstand my true feelings: our soldiers around the world and their families at home deserve our respect, admiration and total support.” The guys over at Power Line have a good take on this lame backtracking. This is idiotic. First, Durbin notes that more than 1,700 soldiers have been killed. This is a good reason to interrogate enemy combatants, hardly an argument to the contraryDoes anyone know just what FBI report Durbin was referring to that evoke for him, the image of Americans acting like Nazi's?Found this interesting.Ultima Thule: Dick Durbin's Lithuanian roots Dick Durbin's Lithuanian roots
By Aussiegirl
Dick Durbin should know better. Below is an excerpt from a lovely reminiscence of his Lithuanian roots, describing how his mother came from a small village called Jurbarkas in Lithuania near Kaunas.
Now read what Nazis did to innocents during the war in Jurbarkas. And here is a site which describes Communist atrocities in Lithuania.
How can Durbin make the odious comparison he has recently made in the well of the Senate knowing his own roots? Only he can answer that question.
My Lithuanian Roots by U.S. Senator Richard Durbin
My mother was born in Lithuania. She came to the United States in 1911 at the age of 2. Her family came from a small village, Jurbarkas, which is outside of Kaunas in Lithuania. And when they came across on the boat from Germany, my grandmother and my aunt and uncle and my mother came over to meet up with my grandfather who had already come to East St. Louis, Illinois.
It was a chance for economic opportunity. But there were also other things involved. One of the few things that my grandmother brought over with her that has survived to this day was a prayer book. It was a Catholic prayer book that was printed in Lithuanian. When the Russians had taken control of Lithuania, they prohibited the printing of Catholic prayer books in Lithuania, and this very simple and modest woman kept what was a piece of contraband under Russian rule to show her defiance and her commitment to her religion. She brought it with her as evidence of her belief that people should be allowed to practice their religion as they choose.

I doubt seriously that the spineless Republicans on Capitol Hill will do anything other than make just a little noise, and as we can all see the Democrats are closing ranks around "Dickhead" Durban, or as I heard yesterday, Dick Turban.
The really scary thing here is this is nothing new for this piece of skat, but the voters in Illinois keep sending him back to represent them. I don't like what this indicates.

Lets see what happens on the Sunday talk shows. If Trent Lott can lose his leadership position for praising Strom Thurmonds presidential run, then Durbin should lose his leadership position for comparing the American military to Nazi's.

Cameron, I am firmly of the opinion that Dick Turban should be expelled from the Senate. I am also firmly of the opinion that it ain't gonna happen because the Republicans have all the spine of jellyfish, they don't even TALK a halfassed fight. And just to add a little fuel to the fire, Dickhead is being quoted by Al Jazzera.

If the Republicans let Turbin slide on this, no I can't deal with that thought right now, the Republicans had better grow a backbone and quick. After the way Frisk mishandled judicial nominees by waiting so long, and by allowing that back stabbing twit Specter to chair the judicial commitee. ( I've wanted Specters head on a pike since the Bork hearings) What is wrong with Republicans, why can't the govern like a majority party when they are the majority party? Anyway I sure hope your wrong Sailor cause if your not I am going to be beside myself with rage. That a Senator could get away with comparing our men and women in the military to Nazi's on the floor of the Senate AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!
