Should Roe v. Wade be overturned and abortion once again become a state issue?

Yes - abortion is not something that the federal government should be deciding.
It should be left up to each individual state. Just like gay marriage should.

Should Roe v. Wade be overturned and abortion once again become a state issue? No. Just as marriage is a national issue, so is abortion. The Full Faith and Credit clause has been on gay marriage,. So logic suggests it will also be used on the issue of abortion. I personally abhor abortion. However, I do not support an outright ban. I think we need to impose certain restrictions, ranging from parental notification to 24-hour waiting periods. However, the fight against abortion will not be won by banning abortion. It will be won by encouraging and advising against abortion. Facts are powerful things. Instead of the applying so much effort into getting the government to ban everything we don't like, we should channel that energy into winning people over to our side.

I would argue that the number of abortions could be drastically reduced if we changed the way that our sex-ed courses are run in America.
Right now they are - "Sex is evil so don't do it." Well, that really isn't working, now is it? Birth control should be taught and encouraged in school so that when teenagers do have pre-marital sex, at least it will be safe.
Personally I don't know why the government has to do this at all. Where are the parents?

Personally I don't know why the government has to do this at all. Where are the parents? Parents don't exactly like to discuss sex with their kids. But I'm one of the few Republicans who supports sex-ed courses, as long as they're taught correctly. But I still believe parents reserve the right to exempt their child from the class.

Yes - abortion is not something that the federal government should be deciding. It should be left up to each individual state. Just like gay marriage should. And just as the Death Penalty should be.

View abortion for what it is. A medical procedure.
We'll compare it to an appendectomy. Now, I can't go to the hospital and say take my appendix out for no reason. But, if my appendix does explode, thereby threatening my life, then there's no fucking reason I shouldn't be able to have my appendix removed.
Get it? That's my 2 cents.

I can live with it if we decide it state by state, and I favor a abortion when the life of the mother is on the line.
For the purpose of this vote though, I'd favor a end to abortions. I just can't morally justify killing a child before they even see this world.

Yes and no.
Roe vs Wade should be overturned.
No abortion.
But it is certainly not a state issue. It is a national issue.

than to fall into the argument the Left is wanting to make.
There are a number of abortion cases on the docket that will grant States greater authority. The problem is that every case to date has been found unconstitutional. There use to be a man on THC, Oly, who was a constitutional law lawyer. We argued this until I defaulted to his "superior intellect".
The argument was lost when the Burger court accepted the "Rights" issue. Many have argued since that this case was mis-argued then and as such a prescent was set. This is why the current SCOTUS nominee has stated that though he is opposed to abortion he would not overturn it.
The Left knows that they we have an up hill battle and will keep public support as long as they keep it a rights issue. However, there is no language in the constitution that insures this type of activity as a "right".
I use to argue this with the Left on THC, I even posted links to womens groups composed entirely of women who have had abortions and are now opposed. The Left would not even open the links. According the one source, there is a larger membership with women opposed to abortion that with those who support.
My real issue is that by most peer review studies concerning the social experiment of "sex education" and "sexual awareness training", the incidents of STDs and similar sexual problems have increased. The Left is refusing to accept that their concept is not working. I am a Christian, but I know that sex will happen. What we need to do is find a better way to provide alternative birth prevention.
The US Census numbers show some disgraceful facts. Contrary to the ProChoice mantra, abortion for incest, rape, and birth defects accounts for less than 8% of all abortions. The largest group are women in the 18-34 age range (72-77% depending on the study). The reason given over 85% of the time, "the relationship was over and I did not want the baby."
Last fall while waiting for my turn with the oncologist, I exploded when the elderly couple was Blaming Bush for all of the world's ills and began to slam him on abortion. I told them that they were wrong. He argued and I shared my medical school experience and a few of the facts. He said that he did not care, that it was a woman's right. I called them ignorant stupid ass holes and left to reschedule my appointment.
On the way home the stupid argument came to mind; Ok, so it is a woman's right to deal with her body the way she wants. I guess that means that a man who commits date rape is justified because it is his right to relief his body. The counter would be that rape would violate the woman. To which I would have responded with: yea, and what does abortion do to the child?
Some of those idiots who argue the loudest in favor for abortion are the same ones who champion the rights of the child. Go figure!
Sorry for the rant. But this is something that I can no longer sit idle with.

Exactly, Dave!
Hypocrisy is par for the course when it comes to liberals.
Take care, buddy.
