Tonight Chris Matthews is joined by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid to unveil the Democrat’s ‘Plan For America.’
Matthews: “Senator Reid, Congresswoman Pelosi, thank you for joining me tonight.”
Reid: “You’re quite welcome, Chris, always a pleasure.”
Pelosi: “Yes, Chris, always a pleasure.”
Matthews: “Now, I understand that you two are here to reveal the Democratic Party’s new platform for the upcoming elections – ‘Plan For America,’ is that correct?”
Reid: “Yes, Chris, you are absolutely correct!”
Pelosi: “We are very pleased to present this plan!”
Matthews: “Is this the plan that you, Congresswoman Pelosi, said would be revealed last December?”
Pelosi: “Yes, it is that plan … we’ve had some, umm, fine tuning to do.”
Matthews: “Okay, let’s see it … tell me what the Democrats have planned for America.”
Reid: “Great, just let me get the plan.” (Reid begins rustling through his briefcase)
(Reid and Pelosi begin whispering to each other)
Pelosi: “Harry, for crying out loud, get the plan out!”
Reid: “Give me a second, Nancy, will ya, I’m looking.”
Reid: “Hmm, I can’t seem to find it … I thought it was in here.”
Pelosi: “Let me see if I have it.” (Pelosi begins rustling through her purse)
Matthews: “Take your time; I’m sure it’s a big plan.”
Reid: “Yes, Chris, it’s massive!”
(Reid and Pelosi begin whispering again)
Reid: “Well, Nancy, do you have it?”
Pelosi: “No, but I thought you had it?!”
Reid: “Apparently I don’t have it.”
Pelosi: “The last time I saw it, Howard was looking at it.”
Reid: “Oh good grief!”
Pelosi: “Maybe Diane or Hillary has it?”
Reid sheepishly to Matthews: “Well…umm…Chris…umm…it appears we can’t find the plan.”
Matthews: “Oh?”
Pelosi: “No, we can’t and, quite frankly, we don’t know where it is at.”

LOL...it's amazing how they talk about a plan they cannot produce!
Sure, they announced their national security plan, outlining what they want to do. If you noticed, however, not once did they mention how they were going to do it! As an example:
- Provide agents with the resources to "eliminate" Osama bin Laden. Ok, sounds great! How?
As the article clearly states: the Democrats national security plan certainly does "lack details!"

And how exactly do they intend to get these "agents" into Pakistan to hunt down that bastard? Oh, I know! They'll launch a million $ missile at a tent and hit a camel in the ass with it. Ooh! I got it! He's hiding in an ASPIRIN FACTORY!
I'm so sick of hearing that pack of ineffective jackasses and the bullshit the feed their masses. The sad thing is it seems like the average voter buys their crap at face value.

It's been their M.O. for the past 40 years! I've got your "details" right here: 1) Make speeches indicating your awareness of the problem. Explain how it's OUTRAGEOUS, UNFAIR and MUST BE ADDRESSED. Show people you care and tell them that you'll tax the rich and fix it. 2) After being elected, raise taxes on EVERYONE. 3) Spend the receipts buying as many votes as possible. 4) GO TO STEP #1. Do you remember Kerry's campaign statement: We can do it better. When pressed for details he said: We can do it better. We can do it better. We can do it better. We can do it better. Go to my website. That was one thing that infuriated me about Clinton. His minions would stand up in public and say, "The economy is doing so well because of the policies of the Clinton Administration. When Julianne Malveaux (remember that idiot?) was asked: Can you name for me ONE SINGLE THING that he did for the economy besides raise taxes? She said something to the effect of: "The American people are sick to death of the policies of the past 16 years. This Admninistration's policies are breathing life into this economy." (something like that) It's absolutely mindless. We're sick of policies that brought taxes down from 90% to 37% (or so). We're sick of the policies that saved us from "Carter's misery index?" We're sick of the policies that beat the Soviet Union and ended the Cold War? We're sick of the policies that restored our military might and our national self-respect? However, the Lame-Stream media just lets that BS slide by unchallenged.

The details are great, bounce, but you forgot one crucial detail:
Blame the opposing party and society in general for their bad lot in life; never take personal responsibility for anything.
...perhaps that should go between items 1 and 2?
I feel the Democratic Party has become an empty shell.
My father, being a blue-collar steelworker in Ohio, was a staunch Democrat as was my late mother (they both told me how much they loved Kennedy). They were Democrats because they sincerely believed the Democratic Party, with their undying support of labor unions, was indeed the "working man's" party.
That all changed in 1983.
My father worked at the same factory for 26 years when, in 1983, their contract was up for renewal. My father, along with several other employees, felt good about their wages and working conditions and wanted the contract renewed "as-is." Their union representatives, however, felt the workers should go on strike to demand a pay increase.
The company announced what the implications of such an action would be: relocation of the plant.
The workers met and voted to go on strike, thinking the company was bluffing. The company, initially did nothing to dissuade this notion as it participated in contract negotiations during the strike.
The striking workers and the union were uncompromising in their demands for pay increases, benefits, etc. The company offered compromises which my father (who was against the strike but stuck with his fellow workers and the union) thought were fair or, at the very least, adequate -- they weren't losing anything through these compromises.
The negotiations stalled.
Finally, after having enough, the company announced that it was closing the plant and relocating it. Suddenly, after working his ass off for 26 years, my father found himself out of a job.
Given his position as an inspector, he was one of the last to leave the factory and I (being home on leave from the army) was there to pick him up. After walking out the door, my father stood and watched as a security guard chained and locked the door.
With his head hanging down and a profound look of sadness on his face, my father got into the car and sat silently for a moment. In almost a whisper, he said, "What the fuck am I going to do now?" It was the first time I had ever heard my father curse like that and I felt so sad for him. He wasn't worried about his children since they were off on their own; his worries lied with my mother who was in constant ill-health due to Muscular Dystrophy -- a disease that would eventually contribute to her death -- 18 years later -- on Sept. 11, 2001.
That day, in 1983, my parents lost their faith in their beloved Democratic Party and labor unions.
In the end, my father and some of his colleagues were successful in getting their pensions. He was also able to land a job as a stocker at a local grocery store, eventually working his way up to shipping/receiving manager before he retired.
My father has no regrets and I am deeply proud of him. In my mind, he is the epitome of an American; he is my hero.

WOW!
First of all, you're exactly right about what I missed. Excellent observation.
Secondly, I'm sorry to hear about your Mom and Dad.
I agree with the union deal though. That's what's kicking GM's ass right now.

Yep, bounce, and I fear that many families will share the same fate as my father faced. It is sad to hear of and see such things happening -- especially to a venerable American company as GM.

The Presidential wannabee Hilary and Kerry and that psychotic Dean.
I can imagine a DNC plan to appear unified to introduce another "Nixon's Seven" to say that Marion and his RNC boys took it.
The thing that makes me angry is that the faithful whom you battle on THC will still see it as a victory.

Tittus - Hehe ... if you are referring to the "Chris Matthews Interview," ... I made that up; it only existed in my head. Now, if you are referring to the cnn.com article, it was Pelosi and Reid, as minority leaders, who announced the Democrats national security plan -- a plan that only exists in their heads.

stauffer, I'm glad that your father was able to pick up the pieces in the long run. Just another example of how unions are slowly destroying our country. There was a time when they served a purpose but that time is long gone. Just look at GM, those are the worst build vehicles in America and the company is on the brink. They've made American made products so expensive then they are shocked when a plant shuts down because the company can no longer compete.

sfcdoublel -
Yes, he was able to pick up the pieces. He has a lot of proud and some extraordinary work ethics. He wasn't a "stock boy" for very long and he was able to obtain benefits when he was promoted -- which he was deeply concerned about given my mother's medical condition.
I feel the same way about labor unions, sfcdoublel: there was a time when they were needed and served a good purpose; now they have since outlived their usefullness.

SFC this is one time when I have to respectfully disagree with you on a point (or maybe, make a fine tweak to it); that is when you said: "There was a time when they served a purpose but that time is long gone."
I hate to use such a common example, but there's Enron, and the many other companies out there that ARE mistreating their employees. Enron might not even be an appropriate example, but, I assume you get my point.
My point would be that what IS needed is well-run unions - of, and by, the members - represented by people that can actually READ a balance sheet, do web research, etc - instead of whomever is the fastest talker/biggest thug in the plant, etc. Basically, as badly run as most are (& the percentage shoots up as you go up the chain), they're the last threat tool against irresponsible management.
A humourus note here: In 1991, I provided protection to John Sweeney & the National HQ of MEBA/NMU (Marine Engineer's Beneficiary Ass'n/Nat'l Maritime Union) from (drum roll) A COMPETING UNION (that was attempting a ... forcible merger). He's now head of AFL/CIO.
Ya know, there's a LOT of examples of how bad it stinks out there - Enron & the other Co's that are "F-in' up", companies shipping work overseas, companies hiring the illegals, companies moving into the back-woods & setting up warehouses, then paying below-welfare/unemployment wages ....... then, there's entire workforces that "wouldn't do that work", HS kids who "can't get no self-esteem flippin burgers", unions that re-elct the same Sec/Tres that ripped them off for $$Million, OR electing as Pres, the guy that was pres of the union at the mill down the road - who struck THEM out of business .....
