A buddy of mine had a great point:
Have you ever met a woman with the "battered woman" syndrome???
They come to you beaten and bruised. They wail about how bad their loser husband (or whatever) is treating them. They're in real pain.
Then, the instant you suggest they dump the loser they do two things:
1) They defend HIM, and
2) They ATTACK YOU!
In this case, New Orleans is the woman.
