Some liberals in France are upset that the French government choose to fly thier flags at half-mast recently to sign mourning over the pope's death. One reason they are giving is the countries standing law for separation between church and state. Another reason is to appease the Muslims in their country. Some religious symbols were banned from French schools last year and this effected mostly Muslims. The Pope was a world leader for Peace and insired many people, including France's 60% Catholic population. This seems a small step to acknowledge this loss. One other note. America has been flying their flags at half mast since the Pope's death and it should be expected to continue until his funeral. link: edition.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/04/05/pope.france.flags.reut/index.html

uck 'em. france for better or worst is a Catholic County(sic). Sadly, Europe is no longer anywhere near as religious as they used to be. Even Italians don't follow the decrees of the pope anymore. Catholicism in its true form is only practiced in America and developing nations, e.g. in South America and Asia.
