What should be the objective(s) of America's foreign policy and why?

I contend that America's foreign policy should employ integrated political, economic, social, and military policies through unilateral and multi-lateral means to:
(1) Project and maintain American global power; (2) Secure for the world's people a form of government consistent with the ideals of democracy and just capitalism;
The achievement of (1) will provide for the United States a pro-active shield to defend the American population and our way of life from negative external factors and the ill-will of our adversaries. It will enable us to simultaneously maintain our own security and prepare to embark upon a campaign to eliminate the forms of evil currently imposing tyranny upon Mankind.
The achievement of (2) will eliminate those external threats with hostile intentions against our people, and will provide for them a means of prosperity and safety. Enfranchised in such a way, they will be less inclined to pursue policies contrary to our continued existence.
I will note here that warfare should be considered an integral aspect of this foreign policy vision. I do not think that warfare is inherently evil as others do; instead I believe it to be a means through which evil can be eradicated.

"I do not think that warfare is inherently evil as others do."
Let me know what you think after you've seen one up close and personal.

101ABN,
What I think of warfare or experience is not relevant to what warfare can accomplish.

Again - what I think of warfare is not relevant to its consequences.
Warfare destroyed NAZIism. It destroyed communism. It's currently destroying radical Islam.
Doesn't matter what you or I think or feel about it, does it?
Why don't you try contesting my ideas instead?

You don't have any new ideas to contest.
Your belief in war is naive. You've never seen its consequences.
Your "domestic program" reeks of fascism.

You don't have any new ideas to contest. I never claimed them to be new. I asked you to counter them. I have no "belief" in war. War is simply an instrument, to be neither loved nor hated. It's personal consequences make no difference as to what war can or cannot accomplish. You're right - I haven't. I am sure there are many things you have not experienced that you take the time to remark on. How so? I have advocated dictatorship? Or any form of racism? The suppression of civil liberties? Quote me.
