I believe they are just using Jordan as a staging area for attacks in Israel. Or they could be donating them to their good buddies in Iraq (fellow Sunnis after all). Since half of Jordan's population is Palestinian anyway, what the hey. I'm trying to remember the latest suggestion about "solving" the problems in the middle east. Tell me if you have heard this one before - and where. First give the Palestinians Jordan. Take the Jordanian royal family and move them to Iraq and let them rule. They are Sunnis but they are royalty with a recognized line. Apparently back in the days after the fall of the Ottoman Empire when the British fucked up that region ( did I say that!!??!!), that family was given the three Ottoman provinces that currently make up Iraq but lost out to the royals who eventually failed to govern there - and they ended up with Jordan as a booby prize. Come to think of it, I bet Hamas was selling that stuff trying to get some cash in their pockets. It seems the Iranians haven't been very forthcoming handing over that $50 million.

I thought it was a son of the house of Saud that got the Iraqi throne. Come to think of it, I think it was the brother to king Faud.

The Husseins ruled Arabia until removed from power by ibn Sa'ud (as in Saudi Arabia) when they them absconded to Jordan. The current Jordanian royalty are the same family of the royals that temporarily ruled Iraq by way of what the British call "fucking up the politics of a region so bad no one can straighten it out" - or Foreign policy. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghazi_of_IraqI'm still trying to figure out where I heard about this - Foreign Affairs magazine? The Daily show?

Lor, what are "they" saying in your circle? Listening to non-US news and watching expanded examinations of the ME terror and it appears that Iran has it fingers in the mess. One report even stated that the origins of the Lebanon civil war and the assassination of Sadat had Iranian threads to the training of the terrorist. Question, is it possible that Chavez will somehow initiate discussions with Iran to import that technology (terror) in his assault on the US?

Reports I'm reading regularly describe Iranian support. Think about it - Sistani, the most influential Shiite mullah in Iraq, is Iranian. Sadr is the exception - being native Iraqi. The Shiites follow Iranian religious leaders or Iraqis who have been trained in Iran. Iran and Syria were the countries where those persecuted by saddam fled.
Iran and Chavez are united by their support of narco-business. They are facilitators for drug lords and terrorists who are all in business for the huge profits to be made in the drug and gun business. Iran has had its people in Latin America for decades - don't forget about their bombings in Buenos Aires. These groups of middle easterners - Pakistanis, Lebanese, Palestinians, Iranians, etc - are find in every country and are the center of contraband trade - drugs, guns, stolen cars. Al Qaeda has folks operating there. Pay attention to the Tri Border area reports. There is NO government presence there. The French government landed a huge cargo plane in the Brazilian area when it attempted to pay off FARC for a kidnapped Colombian politician (Betancourt) [who is married to a French national] and then left without Brazilian air controllers much less Air Force even aware of its penetration. The Brazilian government found out about it by reading French press reports about the failed rescue attempt!
Chavez exists because he is the legally elected head of state and the US is determined not to have an extra-legal coup happen. That said - the minute Chavez moves outside of Venezuelan law to maintain his power, the US may decide that it won't object too loudly if he was removed. Colombia is the player here. Not the US. No one gives a shit about Venezuela except that Chavez makes anti-US statements. Fact is - only US refineries handle the type of oil Venezuela exports. Maybe China might retool to accept Venezuelan oil - but that is a mighty expensive proposition even with increased Chinese presence in Latin America (that is of more concern than Iran btw).
Lebanon's civil war had more to do with Syria than Iran. But Iran did fund it once the violence started. Lebanese Muslims looked to Syria because of a whole host of things. But the majority of Lebanese Muslims were Shiite - unlike the sunni Palestinians that were attempting to overthrow the Christian majority Lebanese government (which reflected the 1947 demographics when the Shiites were a minority, smaller than the sunni population). Iran created and funds both Hamas and Hezbollah. Syria had ambitions for a "Greater Syria" which would cover Lebanon (and parts of Israel btw).
To sum it up - seriously fucked folks with no reason to live except to lie, cheat, steal and murder. But I do love falafel and hummus. Maybe if we could figure out a way to make it a theme park....

Yeah -- one of the games can be throwing rocks (or molotov cocktails for the adults) at Israeli tanks. When you fail - you die.
