I thought that story got debunked. I may not always agree with Persian but he stikes me as being fairly reasonable. From what I know of Iranians, those that call themselves Persians are usually the ones that fled from the mullahs and oppose their rule. As for his time in the war, he, like many others was defending his country more than fighting for Khomeini. One thing I have noticed is his reluctance to discuss Iranian politics which may be due to fear for his family still there...or not. Actually, from what I've seen of him, he hates Ronald Reagan, hated the Shah, and has nothing bad to say about the Ayatollah. You can never tell with him. He's an arrogant ass most of the time.

There have been times where I wondered if Persian is actually one person or several. Looking at his writing style/grammar etc it tends to vary. Course, I'm the last person here to talking about grammar and writing.
