Is the USA the modern day Rome?
We have soldiers in over 100 countries. We tell every one what to do. We want everyone to live by our morals.
I don't really know if all this is true or not, but it sounds good. We are the power!!
So what is it? Are we rome.

The western world and US could be considered modern Rome. It is not about where our soldiers. Rome fell from within. US makes good liberators but bad occupiers. US has many moral and upright people, however most them are silent majority. Our problem is that in many cases the minority dictates what the majority has to do and how to behave.
If another Clinton comes into power as a president, then we could call Washington DC the mini Roman empire.

I hope your not counting regular embassy security which is normally run by marines. As for significant forces, Only Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, S. Korea, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait, and Bahrain come to mind. That's just off the top of my head. I know there are a few more but still far fewer than 100. As for America being the modern Rome. A case could be made that our influence is globally reaching which would be similar to the Roman control of the known world during their empire, but for us it usualy deals with one of two things. Either it deals with economics with us setting up trade agreements, aid contracts and so forth, and also keeping those who would do us harm contained in their little corners of the world.
