LOL – I’ve been looking over some of your posts Lor – in the ‘world’ section of THC. Seems as of late, you’ve taken a slightly less amiable spirit to those of other countries that near instantly blame their difficulties on the U.S. I’m guessing your area of specialty is the America’s, but apparently you got a good handle on a whole host of diplomatic fronts. And…those reptilian comments – I do get a kick out of. Anyway – nice work and welcome.

There's two versions:
"Do I Look Like I Give A Shit" - DILLIGAS
"Do I Look Like I Give A F***" - DILLIGAF

LorSpi has a unique way of putting assholes in their place.
Lor, you are welcome here. If you don't find any appropriate targets of opportunity here, feel free to drag some over from that other place so the rest of us can play too.

Thank you for the warm welcome! Now I feel guilty for not stopping by sooner. I'll have to figure out all the bells and whistles here, so that will take some time. But I do enjoy the company - and the brilliant discussions. I'll try to hold up my end. And behave. Well.....I'll try. Really.

Brilliant discussion? Now that's a gas. Oh and Remey - Lors a lady? Dunno, with that nose under that dogs skirt and all - ROFL. How can I say this? When I am posted overseas, my movements can be monitored by folks not so friendly. I will probably wind up in a country where it is SOP to enter a residence and go through everything - including hardrives - as well as bugging homes, vehicles, etc. Even in who gives a shit Lima, someone from the Chinese Embassy made a serious attampt to "make" me. Not me as a person but me doing my job. Now if I am tied to anything that could possibly be considered questionable, I will be "curtailed". Had that employee of the Chinese embassy "made" me I would have had to curtail my tour. Instead, we made him. (He contacted me trying to seek asylum at the Embassy. I provided information but he inisted on meeting with me. I passed on my info and concerns and he met instead with other folks. He's in the system.) Anything I post is there for anyone to read. Now add the qualifier of my job description to some of my remarks, published it on the front page of a local rag in some unfriendly country - and boom. It's all over. Folks are sent packing in hours for the slightest thing. It isn't about right or wrong but profile. I feel fine posting now that I'm statesides but I won't be here forever. It's a variation of spotting the spook. I am not. Really. But I prefer to keep things a little vague. A least for the near future.

Like Spivak, Spitzer, or Spinner? Add a whole new meaning to, "Honey, we've got 'company'!", don't it?

So, the Spi in LorSpi isn't short for your last name? Like Spivak, Spitzer, or Spinner? Add a whole new meaning to, "Honey, we've got 'company'!", don't it? It's a variation on someone else's name not connected to me that I once as part of a password. I only noticed later the obvious. It ain't the breaking in. It's the pictures that get posted in the local newspapers. I've gotten the "don't get caught doing this" unclass briefings as part of the over all training. It is pretty sobering to see what has happened to folks. Including suicide. The financial stuff is also scary given the track record of some of these governments and organized crime. Then there's the stories about pets getting killed. Lima was fun because we had a series of news events that raised eyebrows - including a DEA agent who was dating a local "supermodel" who was in a soap opera. First time his picture appeared - along with his job description - there was a few sniggers. The second time he was told that it was either his job or the babe. Anyone who gets into an "altercation" with be shipped out on the next flight, person items to follow later.

I have though appreciated your rather pragmatic approach and thought to international relations. Unlike many - hard line based on some political ideals. It's my general opinion that international relations are like alley knife fights...and that's with your allys...let alone those that that have a slightly lessor opinion.

Funny, I guess since I wasn't ever on embassy duty I didn't really understand the possible hazards. The only country I was actually stationed in was Japan, on Okinawa back in the early 1970's. Counter intelligence threat training was never really pushed on us, even for the folks living in houses or apartments off station or in base housing. No matter where you wind up, remember that you have some friends around this joint who you can jaw with.

It's from Customs - "No one is above suspicion". I worked with a guy who has put 20 years in Customs and the guy KNEW some stories. My small homage.
