I came across this board and some of the topics looked interesting. I see that many of you seem to know each other. I hope I have not erred in logging on here. If I haven't, then please allow me to introduce myself. I am Beorn, a handyman from Stittville, New York, in the foothills of the Adirondacks. Welcome aboard. Yes, most of us have run into each other on other boards, but few have met in person.

It's a good thing that we have cyber sleuths who can verify some things for us. What's up, Tom?

Hey 101, you still have to approve people coming to the forum? Or was that Toe’s paranoid application? LOL No worries Beorn – I erred stumbling across the original forum a couple years back – now I’m damned near a vegetable. Welcome, Beorn from some cold wintry foothills in NY. Husky, anyone can sign up. Just look at the member list if you doubt it. Anyone can post, Anyone can hang around and voice any opinion they damn well choose without getting banned. I DO have an aversion to communist propaganda and Islamofacist apologists, however. Those folks might be on shaky ground. Posters are expected to conform to community standards, whatever the hell those might be. There is, at the moment, one arbiter of those standards. That would be Yours Truly. Beorn, welcome! Enjoy your stay here. You'll find there is no "ADVISE" button and extremely limited censorship as all here value the first amendment although we may disagree on it's application at times. BTW isn't jailnurse an odd email name for a handyman? Just curious. Regards

Actually 6 more days to summer, unless they do it different in NY. But, I was refering to the winters there, snow filled, and chilly - yes? I suppose some might be bothered by our winters. We average 120" of snow. I do not worry too much until the snow reaches the eaves of the roof on the west side. And we have a simple test for cold. If you get your facial hair wet, go outside. If it freezes and you can snap a piece off, then it is cold. If you cannot, then it is not.

I am afraid that the other gentleman may have me confused with someone else. By the feeling of his post, he does not care much for that person.
My name is William. My screen name comes from my clan.

BTW isn't jailnurse an odd email name for a handyman? Just curious. It would seem so. Unless you were familiar with the county where I live. And with an old insult. Oneida County is in Upstate New York. We have eight NYS Department of Corrections facilities within 25 miles of Stittville (Oneida, Mohawk, Midstate, Marcy, Georgetown, Pharsalia, Summit, and Hale Creek) I used to work for the NYS DOC as a landscaper, painter, plumber, and general handyman. I worked at all of these facilities helping to keep the outsides neat and the insides liveable. I got into a talk with someone who wasn't very polite on a board many years ago, and when he asked what I did, I told him I was a handyman. He was a stockbroker, and every chance he got, he made fun of my job, my schooling, and where I live. Stittville sounds awful, but it is a pretty little town. He used to call me a day laborer or work monkey. I told him that my job might not be as fancy as his, but I did something important. I nursed the old jails along to keep them open. That is when he started calling me jail nurse. When I switched from AOL to Juno I could not get my old name so I used jailnurse. I tried 20 names before that one was accepted. I use it because I was not going to let him shame me just because he earns more than I do. I do not work for the DOC any more. But I keep the name to remind me to be polite and never get mad.

You know, that's a really interesting story. I used to have a forum very similar to this one, and there was a guy there who had exactly the same email username - jailnurse - and the same forum username - Beorn. I figured it had something to do with LOTR but I never thought it might be a family name. But now I am really confused. Which one of these identities is the real you? Is it the MENSA nurse or is it the handyman? Not that it matters but after you made fun of my job as a chemist - what was the word? it was a lot like "boring" - it would be interesting if you were really the garbage man with 5,000 books.

I am afraid that the other gentleman may have me confused with someone else. By the feeling of his post, he does not care much for that person. My name is William. My screen name comes from my clan. [/quote] Well, William...some people here have been hoping that Tom had the cajones to come here and act like the arrogant bastard that he does on another board, without all the rules and thought police we have over there. It just so happens that he claims to be a male nurse in a psych ward of a prison, and you say you nursed the facilities of a prison. Then you come here out of the blue, and with twenty forums and hundreds of threads, post only under two different headings that both deal with the place we know Tom from and defend him in just your second post. With your screen name being exactly the same as one Tom used on a board administered by one of the members here, I'm sure you can see that it just looks like too many eerie coincidences. What are the odds of something like that happening? Can you really blame anyone for being skeptical? It would actually be somewhat disappointing if Tom thought he could pull something like that off around here. On the other hand, it would be a real hoot if he did it and deliberately left clues to see how long it took, or if he could be unmasked at all, and then came clean about it. He would actually be welcome here and might even make some friends if he talked about things other than politics. So, Beorn, how did you stumble onto this private, unadvertized board if you aren't a poster someone here has met before?
