Disclaimer: Don't blame toejam for inviting me. LOL He just posted your site at THC and I followed the breadcrumbs. Don't want him getting strung up my first week here!!!!!
Hi everyone,
I'm beginning to see some nicks I recognize. That's cool. As you all know, I love a good discussion/debate, I try to act like a lady (when I can) and I don't pull any punches. I'd like to find a few good boards to discuss issues on, and that's why I'm here trying you guys out.
I hold no grudges and I love people. The only thing I can't take is when someone tries to pass "opinon" as fact. It's dishonest.
I ain't perfect and I'm very happy to be here.
I will check the rules as you suggested 101.
Thank you for the welcome.

Yeah, we're fine, and getting better. I appear to have hit another one of those spurts where I am making progress very quickly until the next plateau.
I hear that I'll be as "normal" as I am going to get in a few months, and it feels like I am on track to accomplish that.

I do know you have been through alot, though. You'll never be normal, you do realize that. hehe But, that's what everyone loves about ya!!!

Hey Patricia, Howgoezit? Speaking of I.D. I was checking out this site www.pbs.org/wgbh/evolution/library/05/2/l_052_03.html and it seemed very simplistic. It assumed that to speciate a species needed to separate, then and only then the two groups of the same species could create two different species. i.e. a big cat species gets separated into a group that stays in Africa and the other group stays in India/Asia. One group of the same species makes lions and the other makes tigers. I got this from jackal from THC as a response to me. >>>The separation did not cause the speciation. It allowed the buildup of different traits, if and when those traits arose in one population (due to your arch-enemy, the random mutation). If they were not separated, a new trait would be shared throughout the entire population, and no separate distinct species would arise -- the entire population would continue to remain the same species since they all continue to interbreed (though they may be a different species from their ancient ancestor, if one were still around to compare it with) In otherwords he says that a new species is only created when one species gets separated. No offense but that just confuses me even more. ButwhadoIknow? w btw, what's wrong with being an old phart?

Very good, thank ya. That's right. When organisms with the most environmentally suited genes procreate, their traits become stronger. (survival of the fittest). This is called "adaptation". But, when the same species is separated by, let's say a moving land mass, such as the drifting continents, each species begins to adapt to its unique environment and become different from its sister organism in the old environment. Throw in a rare mutation in one or the other environments and the organism becomes a separate species altogether from its ancestor. Thus, we have speciation. Does that help? Nothin if ya spell it like that.
