Please forgive me for being somewhat presumptuous and creating this topic so soon after I joined up, but I have some questions and while I could send PMs to 101ABN, I figured others may have similar questions when they join up. So to save 101ABN from having to answer the same questions multiple time, I figured this might be helpful. Also others can ask questions and they can all be here together for other newbies. Consider it my one productive contribution to the board (or at least an attempt to pre-preemptively balance out any negative contributions that may fall out of my fingers). Alright, enough yapping already, get to the questions. 1) Is there any way to edit a post once it is posted? This is one of the few features THC offers that is helpful for those of us with out-of-control fingers. Never mind, found the 'modify' button. Not sure how I missed that one.2) What difference, if any, is there between the normal reply and the quick reply? I am assuming this is just for convenience purposes. 3) How severely do you punish those that inadvertently refer to THC user names for those that have different names here? I just want to prepare myself for the inevitable. 4) Are there any known treatments for THC addiction? I am of course referring to the THC message board, not the green leafy material some use for altered states of mind. Does anyone else have trouble getting trapped in endless discussions over there? Okay, that last one was just playing around. But please feel free to add questions to this thread. Even some of you pros here may have a question or two about this site. I am working under the presumption that someone will eventually answer them. Ahh, love the spell checker here. I gave up on THCs a long time ago, I have no idea if they ever fixed it.

A quick reply is just for convenience, but you don't get the option buttons, or smiley's. I don't think anyone gets in trouble for referring to THC monikers? not quite sure what you meant. My moniker at THC is Mrs.Republican. I don't care if you call me jfree or the other. The only treatment for THC addiction is to come here and vent on the THC threads

Can you type in the tags/symbols and get the same results from the quick reply? Yes, it occurred to me to just try it out, but I am lazy. I also noticed the symbols for some of the smileys are different here.
As to the use of THC monikers, it was actually you I was thinking about as I know you more as Mrs R than jfree. As Mrs R is the first one I came across, it likely will stick better. I just wanted to make sure nobody got upset if the THC name was used here. Actually, that question was kind of in jest as well, but had a legitimate concern behind it. After the first two questions, I was trying to think of any others I had last week when I first got here.
It is always good to vent and some of those THC threads deserve some severe venting.

We tie them up in a chair, and read HistoryMinor/grassroots posts to them for 2 days!
Welcome to the Outpost barker.

Doesn't that fall under "cruel and unusual" punishment? Doesn't do any good to punish someone if the punishment leaves them so mentally destroyed they are incapable of rational thought afterwards. On the other hand, it would cut down on second offenses. Thanks for the welcome. Been checking out some of the other folders around here. So far I have managed to get through the "THC - Not just a drug anymore" folder. I didn't realize so many had the same opinion of some of those THC lefties. I do have another question regarding the "quote" feature. Those of you that are familiar with my posting style over at THC know that I tend to respond to various parts immediately under a paragraph. How do I break apart a quote from someone so that it is clear what part of their post I am responding to? To use the example above, lets say I wanted to respond to the part about Grassy below it. Then show the quote for the second part (thanks again for the welcome) and respond to that.

Just make sure you have [/quote] at the end, and

Hey Baker,
2. You may still use the smileys if you know the code for them in the quick reply. I believe that applies to other features as well like bolding text, changine the color, etc. It's just more of a convienence thing if your going to make a quick reply.
3. No punishments. You may know me since I posted for a while at THC under the same monikor. I don't post much there anymore, but when I do it's under "dustdevil28." Either reference is fine with me.
4. The treatment for most of us seems to be coming here so that we can post without fear of some axeswinging moderator hacking apart our threads.
Take it easy.

Yep!
"Are there any known treatments for THC addiction?"
Aversion Therapy works for short periods. Otherwise, spend more time over here. Drag a few friends along if you like. Reasonable people of any persuasion are welcome here.

Thanks TC for the answer. I will try it out on my response to battleborn. I actually know both monikers from THC but I did not realize you were the same person. Hey cool, it works.

Well, like I told MrsR, don't be surprised if I use your THC name as I am more familiar with it. :-)
