Daughter & I, Two-up to Gettysburg So, my oldest daughter and I, road tripped this weekend to Gettysburg, and little Father Daughter quality time. I’ve always wanted to visit Gettysburg but have never lived this far east before to visit, and although Civil War, let alone history, is not my daughters “bag” she was more than down for some alone time with daddy and hopping on the bike. Ready for launch, Two-upping I scouted a route that would keep us off the interstates and allow us to see/experience some country – she dug it. It was about 170 or so miles each way - some good portions of two lane roads winding through the thickly treed hills, eating at little “Mom & Pop” restaurants, stopping on a whim and snapping a pic by a brook. Little Country fuel stop Real peaceful trickling brook on a tiny little off-shoot single lane road we spotted. Gosh, the battlefield is huge and just littered with monuments from a large numbers of States – the Pennsylvania monument is the largest, finished in ummm…1910? And you can climb to the top and view the battlefield. My finger pointing Little Round Top (the near bald rocky hill dead center) and Big Round Top up and right Ever heard of "Boyds Bears"? The place we stayed said we'd get a free bear, so the girl and I scouted out the place. Over all, I had great fun. Got to hang with my girl, got to see Gettysburg, the battlefield, bought everyone a shirt, and got to ride...wonderful way to spend a weekend.

Thank you Sailor - yes, she's a sweetie in appearance and character. Hard to believe I could produce something like that. Of course I was deployed a whole lot during that time -- hmmmm. I'll have to ask the wifie about that.
