A member of the forum that I post at died last night. A couple days ago he was talking about the mods to his seats and last night another member was watching the news and saw his bike involved in a fatal motorcycle accident. His bike was so unique that we knew it was him right away. One of his friends just posted a few minutes ago and confirmed that it was him.
He was hit by a car who turned right in front of him....the kid was 20 years old. Man....I've only been involved in the riding community for like 4 months and I've have to read/hear of way too many fatal riding stories. I live for riding but it's a scary world out there. I don't know how you guys have dealt with it for so long. Every time I hear one of these stories it makes me depressed. Even though I may have never met the person, I still feel a connection to them. I still feel like it was one of my family members who died.
Stay safe out there ya'll and I'll do my best to do the same.

Then you begin to see why those of this sport here wished to temper your exuberance and inexperience with a healthy dose of “go it slow and watch you’r ass.”

I know but some things you really have no control over - although I get your point that adding to the danger is definitely not a good idea.
The worst story I've heard about all summer were the two brothers who died on the same road within an hour or so of each other. One kid was killed in an accident and his brother was on his way to the scene when he himself was killed.

Sorry to hear that. Such a tragedy. Did he had any family?

It's always sobering.
Truth is, there's no safe place on the universe...
You exercise due caution but some things are just outside your control.
When shit happens, you pause and reflect a minute, then on.
Reality can be a bitch!
What Husky said?? goes double from me.

Sorry to hear that. Such a tragedy. Did he had any family? No kids or anything but yea he was only 20 so he leaves his parents and siblings behind. He also left them with 4 motorcycles that they have to sell. That's gotta be hard looking at them every day. It'll take an infinite amount of stories like these to get me to stop riding because I enjoy it too much. But yea...you still pause and reflect and remind yourself how lucky you are every time you pull into the driveway safe and sound.

Remind yourself how fragile life is before you roll on the throttle.
It'll help you avoid getting your organ donor card punched prematurely.
