I am considering buying new computer. I am looking at the desk tops from Dell. Does anybody have any better ideas which computers are good and reliable. I am looking to spend between 500 to 700 dollars. Any suggestion.

spend a little more and buy a Mac. Windows is a Mac look alike on a DOS plateform! Pffft. you're serious? a PC is way more versatile than a mac. When the next big thing in tech comes around on a PC you can upgrade, w/ a mac your stuck with what you got until you can afford another four thousand dollar paperweight.

daelf, computer would be used for business and pleasure. As long as it isn't hard core gaming you would probably be fine w/ just about anything. I'd go w/ at least 1Gb RAM, the newest processor you can afford (Intel is top shelf ATM), PCI-express compatible mother board. that's about all i can think of ATM. might help => www.tigerdirect.com/

Macs are great computers but unless your doing hardcore graphics or music, the universe runs on Windows.

My business has run on Macs without outside support for more than 15 years. We got started on Macs initally because relational data bases couldn't be supported on the DOS base machines that preceeded windows (pretend macs)
