Clemens is truly one of the best in history. Forget 340, he's got a chance at 360. He is over 40 but he shows no signs of slowing down. With Houston falling apart, he could be traded to a winning team and win even more. I can see him being traded to Atlanta or Baltimore.

I used to love Clemens (he was one of my favorite players) but I really can't stand him after what he did to the Yankees last year. How could MLB let him come back and not force him to go back to the Yankees? When Barry Sanders tried coming back the NFL told him that he was under contract with the Lions and would have to go to that team. Because of it, Sanders never came back because he refused to play for them.
I still respect Clemens as one of the game's best modern pitchers but I can't stand him anymore.

I thought Clemens contract was up with the Yankees. Isn't that true?

I thought Clemens contract was up with the Yankees. Isn't that true? No, he was signed for at least one more year, possibly two. If he later decided that he wanted to come back to baseball that's all fine and dandy - but you better come back to the Yankees. Basically any player in baseball who hates his team can retire and get out of his contract. He would then have to re-enter baseball as a FA and join whatever team is willing to pay him the most money. Just as contracts are guaranteed for players, they should be guaranteed for teams too. If you don't live up to your side of the bargin, you should be punished.

This is supposedly his last year so I'd say 340 is still a great way to end a career even if it's with a struggling club like the Astros. Trade the Rocket to Baltimore? Who would the Astros get? I'd love to see the Yankees and Red Sox out of the playoffs this year but the sight of Clemans in that Orange jersey would be weird. Let him finish this year off and retire on a good note.

Obviously he's not winning 32 games this season. I was suggesting he continues playing more seasons. Whether he wants to is a different story. The Astros are in huge trouble they need young prospects and the O's have them. A few minor leaguers and Clemens is off the Astros' back. The Braves are also exploding with young talent. If these teams want to win the World Series THIS YEAR, they will make a trade for Clemens.

It is up in the air whether Clemens stays in.
Perhaps the Astros will try to do what they did in the Beltran deal last year. They`ll trade someone else to bring in another immediate impact player.
