This year I didn't really follow the playoffs. Work was piled pretty high and as a Lakers fan this wasn't exactly their finest year.
I started watching the playoffs recently and I've seen many great games (I wish the NBA would shrink its playoff format). Perhaps the best was game 5 of the Chicago Bulls Vs Washington Wizards serias where the Bulls erased a 10 point deficiet in less than a minute! Washington won the game with a shot at the buzzer, but the accomplishment of the Bulls was something amazing to watch and breathed of what coaches tell players from middle school on up "don't give up." Chicago is not in the playoffs anymore as the Wizards won the series and will face the Shaq led Miami Heat.
So after 2 weeks the first round is over and we get some real power match-ups to look forward to. San Antonio will dominate the Sonics with there size and win their series in 5 games.
The Suns and Mavericks will provide some of the greatest highlights of the post season. NBA MVP Steve Nash of the Suns will face the team he jilted in the off-season. The Suns up-temp offense lead by Nash exploded this year and landed the Suns the top spot in the West while Nash's former team made some adjustments and is still the scoring machine without Nash. Amare Stodlemare (spelling?) and Dirk Nowitski will score many of the "big buckets", but also watch for Joe Johnson of the Suns, as well as Michael
Finley, and Jason Terry of the Mavs. This is a series that shouldn't be missed. The Suns will eventually knock out the Mavs in 6 games.
The Miam Heat will flat out sweep the Wizards. They got size, speed, offense, you name it, the Heat have the advantage.
Many will recall the imfamous basketball brawl in Detroit back in November when Indiana Pacers forward Ron Artest jumped into the stands after being struck by a drink. The brawl the resulted shocked the country, whether you were a sports fan or not you probably so the footage.
Well now these teams will get to re-new that rivalry in second round. Ron Artest is gone, (still serving the suspention) and now violence is expected, but it should be intersting to note the crowd reaction as the Pacers are introduced in Detroit. Reggie Miller is playing with all his heart and pushing his team as much as he can. It won't be enough against Detroit though. With Defensive player of the year Ben Wallace denying any points inside the paint the Pacers simply don't have the shooters to combat the low post presence of Rasheed Wallace, and the sharp-shooting of Rip Hamilton. Detroit will take it in 6 games.
