With the season a few weeks from over it's time to look at probably the most intriging race for a playoff spot right now. That spot is the NL wild card spot witch currently has 4 teams within 2.5 games of each other all duking it out for that one spot. Currently the Astros hold a .5 game lead over the Marlins and Phillies, and a 2.5 game lead over the Nationals. The Astros right now have to be considered the favorite to win it. They just one a series against the Marlins that propelled them to the lead. In that series Clemans and Pettitte threw a combined 14 1/3 innings yeilding just 2 runs. Because they still have their big three pitchers in Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte, and Roy Oswalt producing for them it's going to be a tough challenge for the Phills, Nats, and Fish to overcome them. Oh and Tom, sorry to say, but the Mets are 7 games back and just got sweep by the Nats. Better luck next year . mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/standings/wildcard.jspmlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/gameday_recap.jsp?ymd=20050915&content_id=1211455&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
