Alright, on the off chance that a few NBA fans may lurk I'm going to post this.
This is a little late, but about 4 days ago Miami Heat coach Stan Van Gundy resigned as head coach for family reasons. His resignation comes amid much speculation that he was soon going to be replaced by Miami President and former coach Pat Riley.
Riley you may remember won for tittles in the 80's with the showtime Lakers and has since enjoyed stints as coach of the Knicks and Heat. Riley stepped down after the '02 season and Van Gundy guided a overachieving team the next year to the 4th seed in the playoffs. The next year the best player in the league, Shaquille O'Neal, was traded to the Heat.
Since Shaq joined the team and they became contenders for a tittle their was rumors that Riley would find a way back to the sidelines to chase a championship.
Riley's return seems to validify that rumor.
What do you all think? Did Van Gundy get shafted so the old man can coach another championship team?
