I don't know how far some of you Californians live from L.A., but there is a radio station out there called KFI, AM 640.
www.kfi640.com/main.html
They have a lot of conservative programming (right in the heart of the People's Republic of California), and on Sunday morning there is a show from 6AM to 9AM called the "Jesus Christ" show.
What it is is that the guy who is ostensibly speaking in Jesus' voice is a counselor, probably a psychologist with a very strong theological and philosophical background. He takes calls on "life situations" and dispenses advice with a Christian flair as well as you can over the radio but also takes theology questions.
When I first tuned in (over the internet) I was ready for the show to be a total joke but he's really pretty good although he does hit a clinker every now and then. As it turns out, though, he has a huge following from all over the world and gets letters from places like South America, China, Africa, and Australia.
(He even reaches the People's Republic Of North Carolina!)
Anyway, Jesus was talking about the alleged Gospel of Judas today and was saying that that particular document has been around since the 70's. Apparently, though, the success of The Davinci Code has prompted people at places like the Revisionist History Channel and The Discovery Channel to dredge this old Gnostic document up again in an effort to try to makes some money off of it.
As always, follow the money.
Needless to say, people like Skankey have to make a big deal about it because they think it refutes Christianity as we know it, and as Cam has pointed out, she's just showing her ignorance again.
I have not paid much attention to the Gnostic "gospels" over the years, mainly because my understanding of the canon Gospels is not yet complete (and may never be, with all the background noise and crappy teaching around...)
Just a slant I thought you might want to hear.
By the way, you can download a podcast of the Jesus show - all you have to do is sign up.
