I often wonder what the world would look like if WWII would have never happened.
Me too, Cat. We can imagine all sorts of possibilities. It is very probable that Big Steel would not have occurred. Places like Bethlehem, Inland, Kaiser, and USS were built upon the need to produce war goods.
It is sad to hear many of the Gen Y and Gen X speak without understanding or appreciation for what our fathers did. They will never know what it is live in a steel community. Heck I watch the Buffalo Bills on TV and can see the change in the crowd. Where there use to be blue collar working people, there are now middle class intellectuals. The same is true for the "Dawg Pound" for the Browns.
Without the war, it is probable that Stalin would have drove his people to a revolution. Without the war it is probable that the intellectuals of Germany would have been purged leaving that growing throng of lock-stepped blond-hair-blue-eyed Aryan to conquer the world.
A more important question, would we have fought in WWII when we did if Roosevelt had not been at the helm. Recent archival research has prove that Roosevelt baited the Nazis fearing that a war fought later would have found us standing alone. Japan was just a distraction.
Great question Cat!

Actually my idea of "not having a war" would have included a democracy in Germany and in Russia. Communists would be a name we had to look up in the dictionary. And finally, but not least of all, the whole world Roman Catholic. Yes we can dream! Cataracts

Majority of people would like that kind of dream. However, the reality is different and what has happen in past cannot be taken back. Ignorance of many has stir up a hate and hate turned into fire and death. We are witnesses of that.

Re WWII needed to happen. Humanity needs to purge things like The Nazis! Remey, There is so much murder, mayhem, and downright profit from other's misery, I wonder if we should just sit back and let God take care of everything. Actually that's what we do anyway, but things have got to come to a head soon. C.
