They say music is a reflection of the times.
During the late fifties, sixties, and seventies, music was revolutionary and progressive, advocating change (for the most part), reflecting a mobile, advancing society. Even the 'sad' songs were in a sense still upbeat. Not to mention it actually required talent to play the instruments and sing.
Today - music is repititive, and much of it is about drugs, whoring, and killing. 'Punk rock' is generally about the last breakup and how the world is about to end. Rap - ugh. Now music can be created with computers and vocals can be digitized.
What does that say about us?
