What a piece of shit. An entertaining piece of shit, but a piece of shit nonetheless.
Aniken folded like a house of cards. No wonder the Jedi wouldn't trust him with more responsibility. That dickhead was no knight of any kind. That's why Obi-Wan kicked his ass.
But the real issue was that was a perfectly lame ending to an otherwise magnificent series. If George Lucas expects me to believe that he wrote that 30 years ago then he is dumber than he thinks I am.
I am glad I didn't pay for a theater seat for that.

>If George Lucas expects me to believe that he wrote that 30 years ago then he is dumber than he thinks I am.> Maybe he's dumber than we think he is? Have to agree about the story Mike. The ONLY reason to pay for the tickets was for the big screen effects. Somehow the big starship shots don't quite translate to the small screen as well. Would I pay for theater seats again for this one? Nope. I'll wait a bit and pick up the DVD on sale.

The FX were very good, but I thought Yoda was looking a little frog-like again, something they tried to remedy in Episode II. It looks like they lost their touch a bit with him in the last movie.
Don't get me wrong, though, I will probably own this movie, to complete the set. But even as lame as the actor who played Aniken in Episode II was, he still managed to set up the inner conflict that was going to turn him to the dark side in the last flick.
But in the end he didn't look like a Jedi Knight (or any other heroic figure giving in to anger or hate) but an immature kid whose training had been wasted.
Add that to the prosthetic legs making him as tall as David Prowse (the original Darth Vader), C3PO getting his memory conveniently erased so he wouldn't remember all that had happened (I mean, who would think to do that?)
Just a little too pat, and not very cleverly thought out. I expected better from George Lucas - this seemed like he scribbled it out on the back of an envelope just before filming.

"I expected better from George Lucas - this seemed like he scribbled it out on the back of an envelope just before filming."
So it wasn't just me. A good chunk of the movie appeared to have been written by a bloody amateur. I guess I'll have to pick up that copy before long, Ann wants it to complete the set.

My biggest complaint is/was that Anakin's switch to the Dark side happened way too quickly.
All just to save his wife? He said it himself - Jedis are selfless and have no attachment to other people. Would he really destroy the Republic and all that it stands for just because of a bad dream?
I thought Lucas did a good job of portraying the Jedi as corrupt as well though and that they had their own ambitions. The only character who I really liked was Obi-Wan Kenobi. He seemed like the only person in the movie who understood what it meant to be a Jedi.

Strange as this may sound to you guys, I've never seen episodes 4-6. I may have seen some clips when I was younger since I can vagley remember some scenes, but now that I've seen episodes 1-3 perhaps I'll go get the others to watch.

Actually its good you've seen 1-3, now you can see the movies the way they were ment 1-6.The last (or first?) 3 movies are rediculously better then the newest 3, even if the FX are a little old.You HAVE to see the next 3.

Do not post again until you watch all three. Got that? ROTJ is my favorite because of the battle at the end. As should be pretty obvious, I'm a huge fan of the Rebellion

Soon they will be making an actual TV series to take place between episodes 3 and 4.There will be no major characters in the series though.
My favorite battle would have to be on Hoth in TESB but the battle on Endors Moon in ROTJ would have to be my second.
My favorite jedi fight is either the two jedi vs Darth Maul, or the Luke, Vader fight in ROTJ.Whats yours?

If I had to include all six Star Wars, it would probably have to be Luke/Anakin in Episode 3. I don't really consider the first three (Episodes 1-3) part of the Trilogy though. I really love the fight between Luke and Vader in ROTJ. Just the symbolism there when Luke cuts off Vader's hand and realizes what he is becoming. The space battle in ROTJ is my favorite. Admiral Ackbar is so funny

So what did you think of A New Hope (Episode 4)? Did it live up to the hype? In the next movie, be sure to look for Admiral Piett and General Veers. They are two of my favorite characters
